[Resolved] Malware in my AV!

I am presently under attack by what I think is a trojan, or quite a lot of them, and they seem to originate in my AV.
I am running a full scan of the C drive as I write this, and the AV keeps finding the things in it's Static mode.
The trojan is simply named as "Downloader" and the location in EVERY case is Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec etc\7.5\AP Temp.
After that it is APQ, followed by varying numbers from APQ94.tmp early on to APQ1094.tmp and APQ109C.tmp more recently. I have no idea what the count is, the AV keeps finding them 2 at a time, not sure if that is Old Testament or mating pairs.
Last time I did a full scan with mbam it seemed to take a very long time in the App Data for Symantec. I don't sit here with a stop watch but every time I came in to see where it was at it seemed to be in the same place. The full scan took 2 hours 57 minutes, where 1 hour 45 minutes is the norm.
I don't know what to do about this, I have installed The Cleaner which is supposed to be good for trojans, and will run it as soon as the AV finishes. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Please download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.

Please, never rename Combofix unless instructed.
Close any open browsers.
Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
- Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
- Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.
- Close any open browsers.
- WARNING: Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet as soon as it starts
- Please do not attempt to re-connect your machine back to the Internet until Combofix has completely finished.
- If there is no internet connection after running Combofix, then restart your computer to restore back your connection.
Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it will produce a report for you.
Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review.

**Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall**

Make sure, you re-enable your security programs, when you're done with Combofix.

Thanks for a prompt reply, nice to know you are there when I am up to my armpits ...
Stuff to report:
I have uninstalled Symantec as it seemed to be the source of these little rabbits, and deleted the Application Data also; this was shown as the original location of the Downloader.
I installed Avast instead, free traffic from ISP, and I then went to bed with the Cleaner giving indications it was going to take a number of hours to complete its work. Turned out it took just over an hour and showed no Trojans.
This morning ran complete scans with Spybot, mbam, and Avast which also showed up clear.
I have run the ComboFix and HijackThis as requested. I physically disconnected from the net, then reconnected for ComboFix to download the Error Console. Last time I followed the instructions for disabling the firewall and AV type apps some showed as still running in the scan. This time I uninstalled them, that made sure they did not spoil the party.

Download, and run Norton Removal Tool: Download and run the Norton Removal Tool

Also, HJT doesn't show Avast running, so make sure, after running following Combofix script, and before running HJT again, re-enable Avast.

1. Please open Notepad

Click Start , then Run
Type notepad .exe in the Run Box.

2. Now copy/paste the entire content of the codebox below into the Notepad window:

Hi Broni,
Here is the latest.
First of all the reason that HJT did not show Avast in the last log was those scans (Combofix and HJT) were both done with all security apps uninstalled, and the machine disconnected (physically) from the net. This time Avast was just turned off for Combo Fix and turned on again prior to HJT.

Symantec/Norton. This uninstaller refused to do anything until after I restarted the machine. In the mean time I had manually removed remnants from Program Files. Despite this the thing did find more to remove, then Combofix found some more to remove!
I am fairly sure it is gone now.
However just what Combofix did will remain something of a mystery. Combofix restarted the system and then told me to wait while it prepared a log. After a time it closed but no log appeared, and a search of the C drive revealed nothing. Bit frustrating but the only thing that it did, apart from its usual x stages was remove the Symantec remnants, I did watch the whole process and nothing else appeared in the window.

After submitting the post I noticed that it said Comodo was running. I definitely exited the program. This has happened previously, which is why I actually uninstalled it the first time around. Let me know if you want me to rerun the scan.

Uninstall Combofix:
Go Start > Run
Type in:
combofix /u
Note the space between the "combofix" and the "/u"
Restart computer.

Print these instructions out.

STEP 1. Download SUPERAntiSpyware Free for Home Users:
SUPERAntiSpyware.com | Remove Malware | Remove Spyware - AntiMalware, AntiSpyware, AntiAdware!

* Double-click SUPERAntiSpyware.exe and use the default settings for installation.
* An icon will be created on your desktop. Double-click that icon to launch the program.
* If asked to update the program definitions, click "Yes". If not, update the definitions before scanning by selecting "Check for Updates". PHYSICALLY DISCONNECT FROM THE INTERNET

Restart computer in Safe Mode.

* Click Scan your Computer... button.

* After the scan is complete, a Scan Summary box will appear with potentially harmful items that were detected. Click OK.
* Make sure everything has a checkmark next to it and click Next.
* A notification will appear that Quarantine and Removal is Complete. Click OK and then click the Finish button to return to the main menu.
* If asked if you want to reboot, click Yes.
* To retrieve the removal information after reboot, launch SUPERAntispyware again.
- Click Preferences, then click the Statistics/Logs tab.
- Under Scanner Logs, double-click SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log.
- If there are several logs, click the current dated log and press View log. A text file will open in your default text editor.
- Please copy and paste the Scan Log results in your next reply.
* Click Close to exit the program.

STEP 2. Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware: Malwarebytes.org to your desktop.
(Malwarebytes is free to use as a manual scanner. Payment is only required if you wish to have it run and update automatically which is not necessary for our purposes)

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad.
* Post the log back here.

It appears to be a clean bill of health, but you are the expert here.
Lately, and even with the new installation of mbam today, I get the following message after a scan: "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." Can you suggest how I can change this? I suspect it is done via user accounts, I AM the administrator after all.
