No. Recovery Console is very useful feature, and should be installed on every computer.

How is the computer doing?

Kind of slow but thats because of the [lack of] ram. But its faster than it was.

That's pretty much all we can do, short of some investing (RAM).

You're preaching to the choir. Thats not my call. They can't even spurge and buy 2 ethernet cable and a hub to connect another computer to the network. They can't even cover gas money for me. They will just have to live with it.
