This follows from a neglected thread in XP help (about 1 month ago)
I am trying to assist a friend who has XP (SP3). On start up she gets the following error messages:
"Air GCFG.exe- Entry Pt not found. The procedure entry point aps Get-InterfaceCount - could not be found in the Dynamic Link Library wlanapi.dll"
When that is okayed the following appears:
"WZCSLDRZ.exe EPNE (or EPNF - I am copying this from a handwritten note, have to show her how to make a screen shot) The procedure entry point apslinitialize could not be located in the dynamic link library wlanapi.dll"
Jephree suggested running regsvr32 wlanapi.dll, which go the following result:
wlanapi.dll was loaded, but the DLLRegisterServer entry point was not found. This file cannot be registered.
Broni suggested "GCFG.exe points to some infection."

We have couple of issues here.
First of all, two antivirus programs, and two firewalls are used: Comodo Internet Security, and Norton.
One of them has to go.
If Norton, use Norton Removal Tool: Download and run the Norton Removal Tool

Then, AirGCFG.exe, WZCSLDR2.exefiles seems to be a part of D-link router software:

Thanks for sorting through the chaff.
I didn't know about Norton, and I expect my friend doesn't either. I will follow the link and delete Norton. The computer is about 2 years old so it will have probably have expired anyhow.
As for Internet connection problems ... where to start?
The computer is about as far from the phone connection as it is possible to be, so a wireless connection was the only option. I advised her to get a wireless PCI card, she came back with a USB dongle. There are two Internet connections shown (in the status bar), and one (the wired one from when the modem had to be connected to the PC to change a password) shows with a cross indicating cable unplugged. I am tempted to delete this but would like a second opinion.
As for the wireless connection, it works. It sometimes indicates low connectivity yet downloads data quickly, so on the one hand yes she does have issues, and on the other she doesn't! How is that for a non answer? Would uninstalling and reinstalling the software help?
Please let me know what you think about deleting the (wired) Internet connection that always shows the error, then I will delete Norton, and the (wired) Internet connection (if you think that is a good idea - it seems redundant to me).
I am able to install a wireless PCI card, how she was talked into the dongle is something of a mystery, seeing it went against the advice I was given and passed on (we share an ISP, and it was their opinion that a PCI card would be better, a dongle being about the only option for a lap top but not preferred for a PC).

Just done speedtest via speedtest.net.
The results are a ping of 36ms
DL 2.99 and 3.32mb/sec
and upload speed of 0.5 and 0.52 mb/sec
Second test was done after a restart when I was sure there was no other downloading going on.
These speeds are not too shabby for this part of Australia (copper connections) This suggests that the dongle is doing it's job fairly well, what do you think?
The Norton removal utility is as slow as can be, no Norton apps showed in Add/Remove.
That is the news for now.

Before we proceed further, I need to know, where in the picture is D-Link router located. Working, or not working part of connection.
As for Norton, since it doesn't show in Add\Remove, it probably came pre-installed, and someone uninstall it through Add\Remove, but as normally with Norton, some leftovers are present.
So, by all means, run removal tool.

Yes we are dealing with DSL here, and the speeds are pretty good for Oz broadband - may seem quaint but big empty country, hard to roll out optical cable so what we get is what we get.
Where is the D-Link router located? It is at one end of the house, where the phone line comes in. (it was physically connected by cable, on one occasion, in order for me to change a password). At the other end of the house is the computer with the dongle.
As for the Norton stuff, tis a mystery. I ran the uninstall utility, and it took forever. I checked with Task Manager and there was zero CPU activity so I ended it manually.

Norton is still present.
Try to re-download the tool, and re-run it.

As for the router, you may need to reinstall router driver, and see, if it'll fix startup erors.

Progress report.
Firstly where in the HijackThis log do you see Norton? I could only find Symantec, same company but this is AV not firewall.
Secondly reinstalling the DLink software produced the same error messages, plus what I was hoping would not happen, unable to reestablish the wireless connection. It would connect then moments later lose the connection and I would have to repeat the process.
The help person at the ISP suggested that the modem might be dying, but had no way of establishing if that was the case.
The computer is going to be moved to another room where it will almost have line of sight for the wireless connection, plus a much shorter distance, but the ISP person's suggestion raises a question. How do you establish if a modem is dying? And are there sites that rate modems? I suppose Google could answer the second question quicker than you would be able to reply to this post, but the first question, I would not know where to start.
