    You're welcome

System Idle Process (NOT used CPU) stands at 95.38%, which is perfect.
You'd have to take a snapshot with Process Explorer at the very moment, when the apparent CPU spike happens. Otherwise, it's gonna be hard to investigate.

Also, with Process Explorer open, place your mouse pointer here:

and watch the display box underneath. It'll show you processes using the most of CPU.

Ok the spikes are being caused by "DPC's" they go upto to around 17/20% and cause the audio lag etc. They occur every time the audio lags, i observed it about 5 times in a row and it is definetly the 'Deferred Procedure Calls'.

I attached a couple of pics, as you can see they occur on a regular basis and it appears to be a pattern, hope this helps.

Deferred Procedure Calls CPU spikes look like some hardware issue.
Since your computer is malware free, I propose, you start new topic about this issue, under Windows, or Hardware section.
I'll try to reply there too.

Well i thought id go through some devices in device manager and sure enough i found what was causing the problem.

It is my Belkin Wireless USB adapter, disabled away go the DPCs, enabled and back they come like clockwork. Im so relieved ive found the problem, now it looks like i need to get myself a new USB adapter. Thanks for all your help, i really appreciate it, ive cleaned up my pc from countless viruses and bits of malware thanks to you.
