ok i ran the norton removal tool it took a bit it finally worked i also did the AVZ thing and when i clicked run scripts it poped up a little window sayinf Error Expected at position 13:1 then i restarted the computer Here is a new Hijack this log hope things are lookin better

It looks like the script worked anyway.

I strongly recommend, you uninstall Error Repair Professional. Playing with the registry is unnecessary, and often dangerous.


1. Print this post out, since you won't have an access to it, at some point.

2. Close all windows, except for HijackThis.

3. Put a checkmark next to the following HijackThis entries:

- R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {00A6FAF6-072E-44cf-8957-5838F569A31D} - (no file)
- O4 - HKCU\..\Policies\Explorer\Run: [NT Printing Services6] dllhosts.exe

4. Click on Fix checked button.

5. Restart computer in Safe Mode (keep tapping F8 key, when your computer starts, until menu appears)

6. Open Windows Explorer. Go Tools>Folder Options>View tab, put a checkmark next to Show hidden files, and folders.

7. Delete following files/folders (if present):

- search the computer for dllhosts.exe, and delete all found instances

8. Restart in Normal Mode.

9. Post new HijackThis log.

ok i went thru my add and remove programs and the is no Error Repair Professional in the list. i did the hijack this thing in safe mode and went to windows explorer and did what you said. and then i did a search for dllhosts.exe files and it found none. here is a fresh hijack log

Open HJT one more time, and checkmark:

Click "Fix checked" button.

Open Windows Explorer, and remove Error Repair Professional folder from C:\Program Files

When done....


Your computer is clean

1. Download, and install CCleaner: CCleaner - Builds. Get "Slim" version.
Read CCleaner instruction here: CCleaner Manual.
Run CCleaner.

2. Turn off System Restore:

- Windows XP:
1. Click Start.
2. Right-click the My Computer icon, and then click Properties.
3. Click the System Restore tab.
4. Check "Turn off System Restore".
5. Click Apply.
6. When turning off System Restore, the existing restore points will be deleted. Click Yes to do this.
7. Click OK.
- Windows Vista:
1. Click Start.
2. Right-click the Computer icon, and then click Properties.
3. Click on System Protection under the Tasks column on the left side
4. Click on Continue on the "User Account Control" window that pops up
5. Under the System Protection tab, find Available Disks
6. Uncheck the box for any drive you wish to disable system restore on (in most cases, drive "C:")
7. When turning off System Restore, the existing restore points will be deleted. Click "Turn System Restore Off" on the popup window to do this.
8. Click OK

3. Restart computer.

4. Turn System Restore on.

5. Make sure, Windows Updates are current.

6. If any Trojan was listed among your infection(s), make sure, you change all of your on-line important passwords (bank account(s), secured web sites, etc.) immediately!

7. Download, and install WOT (Web OF Trust): Internet Security | WOT Web of Trust. It'll warn you (in most cases) about dangerous web sites.

8. Read How did I get infected?, With steps so it does not happen again!: How did I get infected?

9. Let me know, how your computer is doing.

Ok things seem to be a little better still hangin up mainly at start up of a program or page once its in the program its ok i still have sound issues i went thru and checked devices and it keeps saying every thing is running properly but when i go to to play a cd a dvd or any thing that has to do with sound it tells me there is a missing file and cannot play also my volume control is missing.
