I am having a lot of trouble removing some spyware on my computer. The spyware is constantly popping up with warnings and has taken over my desktop background as well. The program being sold is usually Antispyknight but occasionally Antivirus XP Pro comes up as well as other screens warning i need to scan now. I cant access the task manager and cant update spybot as i get a message saying Invalid foating point operation. I have run my antivirus and spybot and i was unable to remove a couple of things.

Spybot couldn't remove Fraud.XPAntivirus as it was in use.
My antivirus could not delete TR/KRYPT.XPACK.GEN

My documents also keeps popping open for no reason. Think thats most of it here are my hijack this lists. All your help is greatly appreciated!!

Quick update, i now have no internet connection. I believe it could have something to do with a missing winsock? I found this on a hijack this scan so i'm guessing thats whats caused it!! Now i have no idea what to do!!

A malicious or corrupted .DLL file instance is disrupting the LSP chain on your computer. We need to get rid of it.

First download [copy to a USB pen drive or other suitable media, if necessary] to your desktop WinsockXPfix in case it is needed after the LSP removal (below). If you are unable to connect after running the LSP fix then just run this program (1.4MB file)

Often, the easiest way to fix the broken Internet chain is to download and use a freeware utility called LSPFix.exe (182K file).

Launch the LSP application, and click the "I know what I'm doing" checkbox.

Move nothing just click Finish.


If still no joy, run WinsockXPFix.

Alternatively,

Boot into safe mode WITHOUT networking support, just plain old SAFEMODE.
Then open up the command prompt START>RUN>cmd and type "netsh winsock reset".
The prompt will say that you have to reboot the system in order for the changes to have an affect.
Reboot in your normal fashion as normal.

Right things have improved a bit. still cant change my desktop background from the warning dangerous spyware screen but i no longer get the popups from antispyknight or antivirus. On startup i am getting the message pchnotify has encountered a problem and needs to close. Internet connection is back up after using LSPFix so thats a big relief!! Close all windows and browsers.
Open HijackThis

Click on Open the Misc Tools section
Click on Delete a File On Reboot
Navigate to the file in question to select it or type the complete FILE PATH and then click the ‘Open’ BUTTON:

c:\windows\system32\mss.dll

Exit Hijackthis (x – BUTTON) and REBOOT.

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

• Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
• If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
• If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from HERE and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.
• Once the program has loaded, select "Full Scan", then click Scan.
• The scan may take some time to finish, so please be patient. Run the scan in SAFEMODE (tapping the F8 key on bootup), if necessary.
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
• Make sure that everything is checked , and click Remove Selected.
• When disinfection is completed , a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart(See Extra Note).
• A run log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs TAB in MBAM.

Still having some issues. On start up i am gettin the active desktop recovery screen quite a bit and it is very slow to start up now. Also internet explorer is still slow to start working, still a 10 second delay before a page starts loading or a new tab can be used. Windows running slow as well. I was viewing some new photos earlier and it was taking 4-5 seconds for each photo to appear, its usually instantaneous.

Please disable the ‘active protection’ components of the following application(s), as it/they may hinder the removal of some entries. Otherwise, certain cleaning attempts may be wrongly recognized and blocked as hijacking attempts or other potentially inappropriate behavior. You can re-enable such tools after your computer is clean.


Disable Spybot S&D (Teatimer)

1. Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode.
2. If it is not already set to do this Go to the Mode menu select "Advanced Mode"
3. On the left hand side, Click on Tools
4. Then click on the Resident Icon in the List
5. Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts.
6. Restart your computer.

When disabled, please download (recommend using Internet Explorer) ResetTeaTimer.bat
Double-click ResetTeaTimer.bat to remove all entries set by TeaTimer. This is done so it can be re-enabled without problems after cleaning.

Install it and double-click the icon on your desktop to run it:

• It will ask if you want to update the program definitions, click "Yes",
• Let it through your firewall!
• Under "Configuration and Preferences", click the Preferences BUTTON.
• Click the Scanning Control TAB.
• Under "Scanner Options" make sure the following and additional items are checked:
  • Close browsers before scanning
  • Scan for tracking cookies (default)
  • Terminate memory threats before quarantining.
  • Ignore System Restore/Volume Information on ME and XP
    
  • Click the Close button to leave the control center screen.
• On the main screen, under "Scan for Harmful Software" click Scan your computer.
  
  • On the left check "C:\Fixed Drive".
  • On the right, under "Complete Scan", choose Perform Complete Scan.
  • Click "Next" to start the scan. Please be patient while it scans your computer.
  • After the scan is complete a summary box will appear. Click "OK".
  • Make sure everything in the white box has a check next to it, then click "Next".
  • It will quarantine what it found and if it asks if you want to reboot, click "Yes".
• To retrieve the removal information - please do the following:
  • After reboot, double-click the "SUPERAntiSpyware icon" on your desktop.
  • Click "Preferences". Click the Statistics/Logs TAB.
  • Under "Scanner Logs", double-click "SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log".
  • It will open in your default text editor (such as Notepad/Wordpad).
  • Please highlight everything , then right-click and choose copy.
• Click close and close again to exit the program.
• Please paste:
  • The SAS LOG information.
  • A new HijackThis LOG (with any current observations).
