Hi, my problems started today. I started my computer and while explorer was running the normal startup programs I kept getting critical error messgaes for programs I didnt even know I had. Then I tried to run a game and I received a critical error message for that and the program terminated. I then ran AVG virus scan and it froze. I rebooted the computer and it froze on normal startup repeatedly. Then I started in Safe Mode and was "successful" but when I tried to open AVG or MalwareBytes both programs would not open. I attempted to access d-a-l.com through yahoo but the browser would re-direct me to spam add sites. I tried using a favorite link direct to the site but they appeared to be disabled. I was able to e-mail myself a copy of an HJT log that I obtained and I am using a diff computer to email it to you. Please assist, I have vital files on my computer I need to access for school in a week.

CLICK ’FIX CHECKED’ with HijackThis.





Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and choose Install to extract it to its own folder on the Desktop. Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :

• Restart your computer
• After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
• Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
• Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
• Choose your usual account.

• In Safe Mode, right click the SDFix.zip folder and choose Extract All,
• Open the extracted folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
• Type Y to begin the script.
• It will remove the Trojan Services then make some repairs to the registry and prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
• Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
• Your system will take longer that normal to restart as the fixtool will be running and removing files.
• When the desktop loads the Fixtool will complete the removal and display Finished, then press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
• Finally open the SDFix folder on your desktop and copy and paste the contents of the results file Report.txt back onto the forum with a new HijackThis log.

Hi, well it seems to have made some improvement. I am now able to access most programs with only occassional freezing in normal mode. I still am unable to access your website from the computer and I cannot run Malewarebytes or my AVG in normal mode yet.
I selected the things from HJT you suggested although as you can see F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe,C:\WINDO WS\system32\twext.exe,
is still there.

I also receive an error for two programs upon startup:

"Googleupdate.exe application error
The exception breakpoint.
A breakpoint has been reached.

and also for viewpointservice.exe with the same error except location is 0x00402250.

Looks like I may have spoken too soon. I got my AVG to run in normal mode once, I removed 2 virus' and then it froze again. Attempted to reboot and I am back to not being able to boot in normal mode. Safe mode booted twice and now I am unable to boot into either normal or safe mode. Normal mode doesnt even start to load, with safe mode it starts and goes up until my icons should load but then they dont. I waited about 10 minutes and my icons never came up. Please help, I am lost.

Thereafter, you need to do the following, if possible (removes twext.exe):

[get the download from another PC if necessary]

* Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from HERE or HERE

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

• Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
• If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
• If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from HERE and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.
• Once the program has loaded, initially select the often highly productive "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  ….. AND/OR
• It is also highly advisable to run the longer ”Full Scan” in addition to the above scan.
• The scan may take some time to finish, so please be patient. Run the scan in SAFEMODE (tapping the F8 key on bootup), if necessary.
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
• Make sure that everything is checked , and click Remove Selected.
• When disinfection is completed , a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart(See Extra Note).
• A run log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs TAB in MBAM.
• Copy&Paste the entire report(s) in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.
• Please post any current revised observations.

Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process, if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

Hi, I was able to boot my computer again however all the previous problems still remain. I have Mbam downloaded on this computer from a previous problem. When I run it nothing happens. I tried to uninstall and nothing happens (it locks my add/remove programs when I try yet I am able to remove any other program) and I tried re-installing and it wont let me do that either. I also tried to re-download the file but any yahoo/google search for mbam or tech support re-directs me to spam sites whereas any other normal search does not re-direct me. It seems like the mbam itself has been targeted by whatever is bugging my computer. Please advise.

Download and update from another PC and give it a new name (rename it), e.g.:

Ok well it took a little of workin at it but I was finally able to run Mbam after I tried your suggestion. So far my computer booted fine in normal mode. I am no longer receiving errors upon startup and the best and most significant change is that I can now access your website on my computer! I am hoping this has solved my problem. Please let me know. • Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
• Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
• At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch HijackThis.
  
  
• Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button.
  • It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
  • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
  • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply (when next requested) .
• DO NOT use the AnalyseThis button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.
• DO NOT have HijackThis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6.0 Update 11 or higher, and install it to your computer.

New Version should then show as (START->RUN->cmd | copy & paste JAVA –VERSION and hit Enter key):

Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components.

• Close any programs you may have running, ESPECIALLY your web browser
• Click Start > Control Panel.
• Click Add/Remove Programs.
• Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE) in the name.
• Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
• Repeat as many times as necessary to remove all versions of Java.
• Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
