If you have this program below in add/remove please uninstall, if not there do a search for the folder in bold and delete it:

c:\program files\ISTsvc



Run hijackthis and click on "scan system only" button and put checks next to these:


R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = about:blank

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {AA58ED58-01DD-4d91-8333-CF10577473F7} - (no file)

O3 - Toolbar: Ask Jeeves Bar - {43D9E6F0-1776-4897-AE14-ECEDECBAFEC0} - (no file)
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {2318C2B1-4965-11d4-9B18-009027A5CD4F} - (no file)
O3 - Toolbar: AOL Toolbar - {DE9C389F-3316-41A7-809B-AA305ED9D922} - (no file)


Please close ALL browser windows (including this one).

Everything closed out but hijackthis and click on "fix checked"


Reboot your PC

How is it going now?

AIM is still freezing and now "My Computer" won't open when I click on it.

I contacted Microsoft Technical Support, and they helped me fix this problem. Apparently, it was actually a problem with one of THEIR programs!

He took control of my computer and such, and found that it was "Windows Defender" that was the problem. It was a "corrupted file." But now that that is fixed, there are no other problems with the computer!
