Problems with computer and HiJack This

I have been having problems on my desktop computer with it being very slow and my Internet sites being redirected. I know I have some sort of virus or spyware problem. I tried to follow the directions given in another post so I downloaded HiJack this and saved it to my desktop but when I try to install it nothing happens. I even tried to install it directly from the download site and I get redirected to a white screen telling me I am in danger of Internet security threats. Please advise!

Try running the HJT LOG in SAFE MODE (tapping the F8 key on reboot) or as a renamed program name. Might be advisable to run the following scan first - also in SAFE MODE, if needed:

    * Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from HERE or HERE

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
    • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
    • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
    • If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.
    • Once the program has loaded, initially select the often highly productive "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
      ….. AND/OR
    • It is also highly advisable to run the longer ”Full Scan” in addition to the above scan.
    • The scan may take some time to finish, so please be patient.
    • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
    • Make sure that everything is checked , and click Remove Selected.
    • When disinfection is completed , a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart(See Extra Note).
    • A run log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs TAB in MBAM.
    • Copy&Paste the entire report(s) in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.
    • Please post any current revised observations.

    Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process, if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

I got the Malware program to load and run in Safe Mode. I ran the quick scan and the full scan. After I removed those issues, I was able to install and run HiJack This in SAfe Mode. The following are the logs from all the events. Thanks for the help.

Please disable the ‘active protection’ components of the following application(s), as it/they may hinder the removal of some entries. Otherwise, certain cleaning attempts may be wrongly recognized and blocked as hijacking attempts or other potentially inappropriate behavior. You can re-enable such tools after your computer is clean.

    Disable Spybot S&D (Teatimer)
    1. Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode.
    2. If it is not already set to do this Go to the Mode menu select "Advanced Mode"
    3. On the left hand side, Click on Tools
    4. Then click on the Resident Icon in the List
    5. Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts.
    6. Restart your computer.

When disabled, please download (recommend using Internet Explorer) ResetTeaTimer.bat
Double-click ResetTeaTimer.bat to remove all entries set by TeaTimer. This is done so it can be re-enabled without problems after cleaning.

    C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_03
Your system has an outdated version(s) of Sun Java that could create serious security exposure issues for your PC.

    Update your Java.

Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6.0 Update 11 or higher, and install it to your computer.

New Version should then show as (per HijackThis log):

    C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_11\… or higher

Older JAVA versions have vulnerabilities that malware can and are using to infect systems.

Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components.
    • Close any programs you may have running, ESPECIALLY your web browser
    • Click Start > Control Panel.
    • Click Add/Remove Programs.
    • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE) in the name.
    • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
    • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove all versions of Java.
    • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.

SELECT HijackThis FIX ITEMS: Scan with HijackThis and place a check next to these items, if still present:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {ED429F13-3BCC-4037-A8EF-86CC28A2BAC7} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\jkkLFwXO.dll (file missing)
    O20 - AppInit_DLLs: karna.dat
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: drvlib - C:\WINDOWS\system32\Setup\drvlib.dll (file missing)

Make sure that all browser windows and internet links are closed, even this one!
    CLICK ’FIX CHECKED’ with HijackThis.

SAFEMODE: Boot into safe mode by tapping the F8 key at restart and choosing 'safe mode' menu option (explained here if needed).

    DELETE FILES:

    karna.dat

POST A REVISED HIJACKTHIS LOG for review:
    • Reboot.
    • Run a MBAM scan again
    • Post a new HijackThis log.
    • Provide any feedback commentary as appropriate - how things are now behaving: any new or remaining apparent issues.
