[RESOLVED] Internet explorer error message & Rundll.exe

    Hi,

I have 2 problems which could be related.....

Firstly about every 3 minutes or so I get a Blue error box in the middle of my screen,
In the blue title bar it says "Microsoft Internet Explorer" even though I am using FireFox.
In the main body of text it says

"Error(login):0x10e0 The operator or administrator has refused this request"

I was also getting an error box saying

Rundll.exe Access to another process memoryC:\windows\system32\ctfmon.exe.denied"

The latter has stopped since I went into the control panel and turned off the advanced bit in the Regional & languages Options.

Apart from the error boxs that stop you doing anything theredoes not seem to be any other ill effects, although the CPU does get hyper and get stuck in mud every now and again slowing everything down.

You appear to have acquired a 'password-stealing Trojan' putting all your critical passwords in potential risk - should be reset after the scan below:

    RunDll.exe - Program Information

The following scan should address most if not all your current issues:

    * Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from HERE or HERE

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
    • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
    • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
    • If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.
    • Once the program has loaded, select "Full Scan", then click Scan.
    • The scan may take some time to finish, so please be patient.
    • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
    • Make sure that everything is checked , and click Remove Selected.
    • When disinfection is completed , a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart(See Extra Note).
    • A run log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs TAB in MBAM.
    • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.
    • Please post any current revised observations.

    Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process, if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

    Nightmare,

Getting computer into Safe mode with a wireless keyboard was a mare!

I have managed to get Malwarebytes to run in safe mode, copy of logs below....

    Observations

I had to take a photo in order to read the Blue screen that flashed up when Malwarebytes was trying to run in normal mode, it said I needed to un install any hardware or software that I have recently installed.

When I turned computer on today, instead of usual wallpaper, I now have a plain screen, if I try to print something I get a message saying that no printer is attached, and I get a bubble on start-up asking "View newly discovered UPnPdevices"
If I click on that it shows me my Router, although this PC is connected via Ethernet cable.
Oh, one last thing, next to the box at the bottom right hand corner of the screen where the time is, I used to have icons for volume and other programs, well, now I just have the time!

(System still crashes if I try to run Malware bytes in normal mode, for somereason log isn't visable in normal mode, only in safe mode, but here it is....)

Visit this page below to familiarize yourself to the tool below and download from one of the links provided. Run in SAFE MODE if necessary.

A guide and tutorial on using ComboFix

If you have previously downloaded ComboFix,please delete that version now.

It is IMPORTANT that it is saved directly to your desktop

    Close any open browsers.

    Disconnect from the Internet.

Please do not re-connect your machine back to the Internet until Combofix has completely finished.

Disable your antivirus program and any realtime malware scanners and script blockers now

    How To Disable

Double click on combofix.exe and follow the prompts.

When it's finished it will produce a log.
Post the entire contents of C:\ComboFix.txt into your next reply.

    Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running.

That may cause the program to freeze/hang.

Do NOT post the ComboFix-quarantined-files.txt unless I ask.

Re-enable your anti-virus and re-connect back to the internet and post the combofix log.

    *Note*
In case your Antivirus or any other realtime scanner is displaying an alert after you downloaded Combofix or while you use Combofix, please disable your scanner and redownload Combofix again.
Some scanners may see some combofix related components as suspicious and block or delete them while there's nothing wrong with them.

ComboFix SHOULD NOT be used unless requested by a forum helper.

    Hi,

I turned the computer on this morning and got a blue screen saying that access to profile was corrupt, I was able to start in safe mode, and I made a new primary account, and deleted the old, corrupt one.

Apart from losing a load of files, the computer does seem to be running a lot better.

I have ran the Combo Fix, half way through the check, and on re-boot I got the error message....

    CF3344.EXE - Corrupt file
    \Windows\Temp\SCSIC.Temp Please run chkdsk utility

NOTE: Your problems ands corruption issues may have been and may continue to be as a result of uTorrent downloads (P2P). It may be advisable to uninstall uTorrent for now.

The following file may be of serious concern:

    c:\windows\iun6002.exe
iun6002.exe monitors user Internet activity and private information.
It sends stolen data to a hacker site.
    %WinDir%\iun6002.exe
iun6002.exe - iun6002, desktop surveillance personal spyware, Spyware Notice!
    IUN6002.EXE, Prevx
    iun6002.exe 2008 - Google Search

End the running process (Processes TAB), if found (Ctrl+Alt+Delete).

    Delete FILE:
    c:\windows\iun6002.exe

    Delete FOLDER:
    %ProgramFiles%\ODSP (probably C:\Program Files\ODSP)

Clean up suspect ‘Scheduled Tasks’ (listed in COMBOFIX):
    • Go to Control Panel>Scheduled Tasks
    • Right click on any item with pattern At1 (Atx)
    • Or, find and delete files with pattern c:\windows\Tasks\At1.job

    Clean out TEMPORARY FILES procedures:
To clean your temp folder, recycle bin, etc..please download this free tool:

    CCleaner CCleaner - Download

    Install Options:
    • Don't install any Toolbars, or other programs, should it ask you!
    • Just uncheck the option of installing the Yahoo toolbar.

It will put a shortcut on your Desktop.

Do not run CCleaner until requested later.

Run CCleaner preferably in SAFE MODE (reboot tapping the F8 key after the beep).

Select the ‘Options’ BUTTON option (top LEFT), ‘Advanced’ BUTTON, and then UNCHECK the ‘Only delete files in Windows Temp Folders older than 48 hours’ (often, the latest download traffic could be the bearer of bad content – RESET back to default after this particular cleaning).

Select the ‘Cleaner’ BUTTON option (top LEFT), if not already selected. Use the ’Windows’ TAB up front by default.
    • Uncheck ‘Cookies’ option (advisable)
    • Optionally, Uncheck ‘Recently Typed URLs’ option (potentially still useful)
    • Click the ‘Analyse’ button.
    • Thereafter, click ‘Run Cleaner’ after you have reviewed what it proposes to clean.

    CHKDSK Procedure:
Double-click My Computer. Right-click the C-drive and click Properties. Click on the Tools tab and choose to check the computer for problems. Click on Check Now. You will then have two check boxes. The top option is for the file check, and the second option is for the hardware (physical disk) check. Check either one, or both. At least check the top one. Again, if you think you may be having problems with the hard disk itself, then check the second one, as well. And just like the Windows 98 Thorough Scan, this will take quite a bit longer to run, so let it run over night. One thing, though: For Windows 2000 and XP, you won’t be able to run the check right then. After clicking the Start button (once the check boxes are checked), you will need to reboot to run the disk check. It will ask you if you want the system to run the CHKDSK on reboot. Choose Yes and reboot. Just before getting back into Windows, the system will do its CHKDSK, and depending on which options you chose, will take either a few minutes, and sometimes up to an hour or so, to run. Let it run.

    • It may be necessary to run CHKDSK more than once if problems are found. The first pass may only repair or restore bad sectors. The next scan might need to delete (orphaned?) file or index entries.

    • Repeat for any additional DRIVES (D:\ , E:\, etc as applicable.

Use the System File Checker (SFC) :
(typical runtime is 30 minutes) - please read over all instructions before proceeding.

Sometimes when you install third party software, it may overwrite important operating system files. This can cause instability - or worse. Windows XP includes a command line tool that you can use if you think this may have happened (for example, if you get a message box warning that there is a problem with a .dll or the system just seems unstable). Here's how to use it:
    1. Click Start | Run.
    2. In the Run box, type/copy&paste:
SFC /scannow (notice the space plus slash).
    3. Windows will scan all protected Windows files to verify that they are intact and in their original versions. If they're not, corrupt, missing or incorrect files are replaced. You may be prompted to insert your Windows XP installation CD if your Dllcache folder (where Windows keeps a copy of essential system files) has become corrupt or has been deleted.

To avoid the possibility of having to dig out and insert the OS CD, you can copy the i386 folder from the installation CD to your hard disk, and just point Windows there to find the files it needs. For instructions on how to do so, and more info about scannow, see:
scannow sfc - LEARN how to use SFC.EXE (system file checker) in this article!

    Hi,

I have had no corrupt file messages, so that must be an improvement....
The biggest change is the wallpaper has reverted to the original wallpaper that was on it when I bought the computer.
I still don't have the time in the task bar when I am on the internet, although it is there when I am viewing anything other than the internet.

    Hi,

    Sorted the task bar.....

I didn't think to see if the settings had been changed, for some reason it wasn't set to be kept on top of other windows!

I think we may be slowly getting there....

    Thanks again

I have no specific issues left that might need to be addressed.

You may want to run MBAM again - I run it weekly. Might also run 'Combofix' again with an updated log.

I also recommend using the following free alert scan only (runs daily) for a researchable second opinion (license required for most cleaning - advisable for those with recurrent malware problems):

    PrevxCSI
    Prevx CSI Download

Save 20% on AVG Internet Security 2012 Suite!
    Hi,

Ran all those with nothing to report, The Malware bytes program even did a full scan without crashing my system (Hooray).
The last one I ran gave me a clean bill of health.

So the only other outstanding issue is to say thanks!

    You have been a star!

    Thanks again

    Simon
