There is a detection of virus and search thingy in my computer! Not sure where it came from. I need help finding and getting rid of it!! Here is the log from Hijack This!

You really are lacking protection from Viruses and Hackers. You don't have an antivirus program or firewall installed. I would suggest that you install an antivirus program and firewall as soon as possible. Don't bother blowing £40.00 on Norton Internet Security. You can get everything you need for free. Please take a look at this thread on another forum that I posted about Free Software for protecting your PC. Please note that you only need one firewall and one piece of Antivirus Software.

Download the antivirus software you wish to use and run a full scan and remove all viruses. (AVG Free Edition is probably better than Avast).

I have Antivir xp installed and check every file coming into this computer that I know of. Firewall? XP has its own firewall, see this doesnt fix my problem. When I run Antivir XP it finds some files, in a file called I think search[1].cab then says the files it found to be viruses within the .cab file will not be deleted! So I sent you the weird hijack this log so you could help me elimenate possibly this virus. Im not a newbie at computers, I have been computing since 286's and atari 2600. Anyway I usually can get rid of all viruses, but never came across this type of problem!
