    Unhappy I may be too far gone...

    I can't even install HijackThis...So I can't give you a log...

    I downloaded the install file and tried to execute it. It pretends like it's executing, but an install window never comes up and the program never installs. It shows up in my processes in my Task Manager, but never actually does anything.

    Similarly, my SpyBot is being weird. I'll try to open the program and it will give me a time glass like the computer is opening the program, and then just never does. It also shows up in my processes in my Task Manager.

    Odder enough, my Firefox and IE won't let me come to your site--I'm using another computer to type this. It would say the site didn't exist or would say it didn't load. Even when I knew I had the right url.

    I'll try giving you some other symptoms to see if you can help:
    • a DOS window opens for a couple of seconds upon starting up and signing into XP.
    • Upon start-up, View Mgr "encounters a problem"
    • Random browser windows open with add sites, some don't load
    • Google search links redirect

    Let me know if there's possibly anything I can do... Maybe I should start by system restoring?

    Update: I tried to restore, but all my restore points were deleted...

    I was able to download a program called Vipre and it's currently scanning. It has found 58 counts of Zango, but I've seen Zango around and I don't think it's the culprit.

    Let me know what you think. Thank you!

    It may be necessary to try running fix tools in SAFE MODE.

    Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

    Double click SDFix.exe and choose Install to extract it to its own folder on the Desktop. Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
    • Restart your computer
    • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
    • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
    • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
    • Choose your usual account.
    • In Safe Mode, right click the SDFix.zip folder and choose Extract All,
    • Open the extracted folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
    • Type Y to begin the script.
    • It will remove the Trojan Services then make some repairs to the registry and prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
    • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
    • Your system will take longer that normal to restart as the fixtool will be running and removing files.
    • When the desktop loads the Fixtool will complete the removal and display Finished, then press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
    • Finally open the SDFix folder on your desktop and copy and paste the contents of the results file Report.txt back onto the forum with a new HijackThis log.

      Please also provide any new current observations.

    I reformatted. My problems were becoming past the scope of mere spyware, to the point where my computer would freeze in start up. It was just bad.

    Thank you for your help and I'm sorry I couldn't use it.
