Ok my Mom clicked on a pop up [I don't know what] & then she got a notice from "windows security expert", she called me over to get rid of it & it said that AntiVirus 2009 was deactivated and to click here to activate it [this was under the anti virus/malware section, which was red]. I had not installed this on her computer as her anti virus & the real security center didn't show this so I killed the process assuming that it was a virus & updated the anti virus she does have [avg]. Then I rebooted into safe mode & ran a scan with avg free. I thought that that would take care of it but it ran again upon boot up so I had my mom kill it & have me wait until I got back home. Looking up the log for the scan I found that avg didn't even find it. Why is this? It is a virus isn't it? Since then I've installed winpatrol which I used to disable anti virus 2009 from starting on boot up. If I want to I can have winpatrol remove the start up entry from the registry but for now it is just disabled. So my question is, how do I remove this? This is my first major, personal problem with a virus in about 5 years.

Here are my hijack this logs. You won't find the process in the list because I had my mom kill it. it also doesn't show up as an installed program. I found the application under C:\Program Files\Antivirus 2009 [av2009.exe] & it is the only file. Can I just delete it & remove the start up entry from the registry [using winpatrol] or is there more to it than that? She has Vista H.P. SP1 32-bit.

Small Update, I rebooted the computer to make sure that I wouldn't run the program on boot up & I got the threat alert from avg about a detected trojan. I'm including a screenshot of that threat. I don't know if it is related. I told avg to move it to the virus vault. Also the program didn't run.

* Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from HERE or HERE

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

• Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
• If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
• Once the program has loaded, select "Full Scan", then click Scan.
• The scan may take some time to finish, so please be patient.
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
• Make sure that everything is checked , and click Remove Selected.
• When disinfection is completed , a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart(See Extra Note).
• A run log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs TAB in MBAM.
• Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.
• Please post any current revised observations.
