    [RESOLVED] Browser Hijack/DLL Problem

My son's pc recently started having a hijack problem. I don't know when it began but he first told me about it last night. When doing an internet search, you would be directed to SearchMe or all of a sudden a system malware scan would begin. With respect to malware, the machine had Nod32 Antivirus softrware and Windows Defender installed.

I installed SpyBot S&D this evening and ran several scans. It seems to have removed everything it detected but now on startup I get can't load errors relating to 3 DLL files. They are: sezerabo.dll, ramuzovi.dll and zumidiba.dll. I went into the msconfig/startup and disabled all 3. Zumidiba.dll somehow keeps trying to load on startup.

After running Spybot, I did a system scan with Nod32, the antivirus software and it came up clean. Since doing this, the browser hijack has seem to stop but the Dll load errors still exist.

Here is the Hijack This file:

You will need to be REBOOTING a number of times in the fix procedures. Accordingly, it is probably a good idea to print out the following directions or copy them to a text file on your desktop using NOTEPAD. Read these instructions carefully and feel free to ask if you're unsure about anything.

Re-enable any items disabled in MSCONFIG.

SELECT HijackThis FIX ITEMS: Scan with HijackThis and place a check next to these items:

Advisable to print out these instructions or save to desktop.

We will be restarting into Safe Mode later on in the fix and you might not be able to access the Internet. Accordingly, it is probably a good idea to print out the following directions or copy them to a text file on your desktop using NOTEPAD. Read these instructions carefully and feel free to ask if you're unsure about anything.

SELECT HijackThis FIX ITEMS: Scan with HijackThis and place a check next to these items:

    O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-19\..\Run: [NAJIDUZOJI] Rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\pehirema.dll",s (User 'LOCAL SERVICE')
    O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-20\..\Run: [NAJIDUZOJI] Rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\pehirema.dll",s (User 'NETWORK SERVICE')

    O16 - DPF: {3A7FE611-1994-4EF1-A09F-99456752289D} - http://install.wildtangent.com/Activ...veLauncher.cab

    O20 - AppInit_DLLs: c:\windows\system32\sidehole.dll c:\windows\system32\sezerabo.dll

Make sure that all browser windows and internet links are closed, even this one!
    CLICK ’FIX CHECKED’ with HijackThis.

    REBOOT.

    Delete FILES, if found:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\pehirema.dll
    c:\windows\system32\sidehole.dll
    c:\windows\system32\sezerabo.dll

    Recommended uninstall:

    Java(TM) 6 Update 7
    Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 1
Your system has an outdated version(s) of Sun Java that could create serious security exposure issues for your PC.

    Update your Java.

Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6.0 Update 11 or higher, and install it to your computer.

New Version should then show as (per HijackThis log):

    C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_11\… or higher

Older JAVA versions have vulnerabilities that malware can and are using to infect systems.

Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components.
    • Close any programs you may have running, ESPECIALLY your web browser
    • Click Start > Control Panel.
    • Click Add/Remove Programs.
    • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE) in the name.
    • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
    • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove all versions of Java.
    • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.

Lets get a second opinion scan:

Download SUPERAntiSpyware (SAS) free home version:

    SUPERAntiSpyware.com - AntiAdware. AntiSpyware. AntiMalware.

Install it and double-click the icon on your desktop to run it:
    • It will ask if you want to update the program definitions, click "Yes",
    • Let it through your firewall!
    • Under "Configuration and Preferences", click the Preferences BUTTON.
    • Click the Scanning Control TAB.
    • Under "Scanner Options" make sure the following and additional items are checked:
      • Close browsers before scanning
      • Scan for tracking cookies (default)
      • Terminate memory threats before quarantining.
      • Ignore System Restore/Volume Information on ME and XP
      • Click the Close button to leave the control center screen.
    • On the main screen, under "Scan for Harmful Software" click Scan your computer.
      • On the left check "C:\Fixed Drive".
      • On the right, under "Complete Scan", choose Perform Complete Scan.
      • Click "Next" to start the scan. Please be patient while it scans your computer.
      • After the scan is complete a summary box will appear. Click "OK".
      • Make sure everything in the white box has a check next to it, then click "Next".
      • It will quarantine what it found and if it asks if you want to reboot, click "Yes".
    • To retrieve the removal information - please do the following:
      • After reboot, double-click the "SUPERAntiSpyware icon" on your desktop.
      • Click "Preferences". Click the Statistics/Logs TAB.
      • Under "Scanner Logs", double-click "SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log".
      • It will open in your default text editor (such as Notepad/Wordpad).
      • Please highlight everything , then right-click and choose copy.
    • Click close and close again to exit the program.
    • Please paste:
      • The SAS LOG information.
      • A new HijackThis LOG (with any current observations).
