Alright guys , first thing to note, im new to this and know next to nothing so it would be great if you could help.

Basic problem is that when i start up my computer the command prompt black box thing opens up this has never happend before and im worried. I also noticed that all my antivirus and firewalls had been disabled when i open the up to scan. I got these going again but this isnt the issue. Back to the boxes:

In the Title bar it reads c:\DOCUMEN~\{User name}\index.exe, and inside the black window there is only the regular blinking _ .

With, of course, the user name in the brackets.

If I click the close button, it gives me the following (confusing) message:

"The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction.

CS:06d8 IP:0183 OP:db2182 e0 81

Choose 'Close' to terminate the application."

it closes but so does ignore and i dont understand.

I had heard malware bytes was a good thing to download to rid myself of this possibility but when i try to download it on firefox i am told that this download has been blocked by my security zone policy. I have no idea what this means and it has not happened before the boxes began to appear. The same thing happens if i try to download on I.E. . I may just be over reacting but im scared and would really appreciate feedback. My virus scan is McAfee security center if that helps.

How many firewalls do you have? If more then one uninstall the rest except for one. Windows firewall needs to be off only.

Check "restricted sites zone" in Internet Explorer to see if malwarebytes is in there if so remove it from there.

Rename hijackthis.exe if needed tofoolyou.exe

1. Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
2. Double-click on HJTInstall.exe to run the program.
3. By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis.
4. Accept the license agreement by clicking the "I Accept" button.
5. Click on the "Do a system scan and save a log file" button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
6. Click "Save log" to save the log file and then the log will open in Notepad.
7. Click on "Edit -> Select All" then click on "Edit -> Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
8. Come back here to this thread and paste the log in your next reply.
9. Do NOT have HijackThis fix anything yet! Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
