i get that AP id separator comment.
No idea what this means - please elaborate more fully if my suggestions fail to resolve your issues.

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AVG7_CC] C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG7\avgcc.exe /STARTUP
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AVAST!] C:\PROGRA~1\ALWILS~1\Avast4\ashDisp.exe
You are running 2 antivirus tools at the same time. That will likely be a source of incompatibilities and conflicts. Please uninstall one of them - Avast or AVG.

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WINDOWS DEFENDER] "C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MSASCui.exe" -hide
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [SPYWARE DOCTOR] C:\PROGRA~1\SPYWAR~1\swdoctor.exe /Q
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [SPYBOTSD TEATIMER] C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\TeaTimer.exe
Similarly - all the above, if running in real-tiime, could be a source of conflict for each other. Disable all but one and/or actively run only one at a time (see instructions below).

    Disable Windows Defender
    • Open Windows Defender
    • Click Tools
    • Click General Settings
    • Scroll down to Real Time Protection Options
    • Uncheck Turn on Real Time Protection (recommended)
    • Close Windows Defender

    Disable Spyware Doctor
    1. Click the Spyware Doctor icon in the System Tray.
    2. Click Settings.
    3. Click Startup Settings under Pick a Category.
    4. Uncheck Run at Windows startup.
    5. Click Apply and Exit Spyware Doctor.

    Disable Spybot S&D (Teatimer)
    1. Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode.
    2. If it is not already set to do this Go to the Mode menu select "Advanced Mode"
    3. On the left hand side, Click on Tools
    4. Then click on the Resident Icon in the List
    5. Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts.
    6. Restart your computer.

    When disabled, please download ResetTeaTimer.bat
Double-click ResetTeaTimer.bat to remove all entries set by TeaTimer. This is done so it can be re-enabled without problems after cleaning.

Post a revised HijackThis LOG and how you PC is behaving (running slow?).

I always get a box that says Runner File Name (Compaq Connections.exe lacks the app id separator. when i cut on my computer. this is a new problem because i have had avg and avast for awhile with no problems, it only really started when i installed yahoo messenger 8. and when i scanned my computer with spybot it found something that it said was a startguard (a heuristic scan) a file called hosts.20080821-033402.backup

I stand by my comments about using multiple applications of the same type as you are doing (duplicate antivirus and real-time anti-malware). Avast and AVG will eventually create serious issues, problems, and potential conflicts (such as when installing apps). Your latest install could have created your current issue.

    Runner error - Computing.Net
see if there are any entries for Compaq Connections in msconfig. If so, disable

Save 20% on AVG Internet Security 2012 Suite!
I can't really disable the virus applications because the computer does not belong to me, but i will suggest it to the owner. I had moved the backup file hosts.20080821-033402.backup when spybot said it was bad but after going to the link you gave i moved it back. i did uncheck compaq connections in the startup. thanks for the help and hopefully nothing is wrong with the computer just conflicts with the two virus programs like you suggested.
