Hi DAL, I'm having problems with Google redirecting to random web pages (often other search pages) , sometimes directly sometimes via a couple of IP addresses.
I came across this fix you did for some else

but could not find the programme you were talking about.
I then uninstalled a couple of programmes that I thought may use redirects; one was Samsung's DVD drive auto firmware update, the other an auto software update checker that came with Free Download Manager. It became obvious that more was involved as the first google result I clicked redirected me again.

* Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from HERE or HERE

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

• Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
• If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
• Once the program has loaded, initially select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
• The scan may take some time to finish, so please be patient.
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
• Make sure that everything is checked , and click Remove Selected.
• When disinfection is completed , a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart(See Extra Note).
• A run log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs TAB in MBAM.
• Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.

Thanks VOPThis, well mbam found no threats so I ran a deep search, still nothing. I did Restore MS Hosts file then replaced MVP hosts and restarted DNS client. Unfortunately the problem is till there.

Thanks VOPThis, well mbam found no threats so I ran a deep search, still nothing. I did Restore MS Hosts file then replaced MVP hosts and restarted DNS client. Unfortunately the problem is till there.

You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe



Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure ”Run fixit” is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts.
You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so.
Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

Once the desktop loads, post the text that will open (report.txt) and any current observations in the forum please.

POSSIBLE ERROR MSG:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\AUTOEXEC.NT not there

You are missing a file which is preventing you from running the wareoutfix tool.

Go to the link below and select your operating system and click the link on that site and follow instructions for obtaining the missing file and try the wareoutfix tool again please.

Thanks Vincent, have a good w/end? I ran the fix and also the dnsbak.reg as I am having quirks with connecting to the net, although that maybe due to a dodgy extension connection.
