Re: [RESOLVED] Hijack this log / wives laptop gunked up help request

    c:\windows\system32\sspytevl.dll

should I run hijack this again and post those results again?
You can if you want. But, only one item found after running multiple scans is still a pretty clean PC without OBVIOUS issues. I would post a log if any scan tool continues to find recurring problems.

However, would first initially suggest the following:
    • Do a goggle search on the filename, and complete file path or infection name in double quotes (nothing clearly available). Would want to know the nature of the infection, if determinable.
    • Do a text search thru your HJT log in case the file can be found there.

Ok I re-ran superantispyware tool and it found

    Adware.Vundo Variant/Rel
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\MCRH.TMP

I cleaned it with that program and ran avg antivirus which found another trojan generic 10 .dll file, I did google the file name (found nothing on it) cleaned it out and rebooted (superantispyware vundo variant required reboot to fix) here is a hijack this log.

Vundo can be particularly resistant if all infection agents are not COMPLETELY identified and eradicated. This infection is constantly changing and utilizes random filenames. MBAM had been having a good track record with it up to this point, but may be in need of some help here.

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
    • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
    • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
    • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
    • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
    • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
    • When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
    • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt.

Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.

If you are still suspecting Vundo issues, run the following further scan:

Download ComboFix from one of the following links below:

Here or Here to your Desktop.

**Note: If you already have Combofix, delete previous copy(s) and download the latest version. It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**

Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet and restore connections before it completes its run. If Combofix terminates prematurely and breaks the Internet connections, they can be restored manually by rebooting the machine. Note: If you have an "always on" connection (DSL/cable), unplug the cable from the modem before running Combofix. Do not reconnect before Combofix has finished its scan.
    • Very Important! Temporarily disable your:
      • anti-virus,
      • script blocking and
      • any anti-malware real-time protection
before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause unpredictable results.
    • Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.

    • Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
    • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log and a HijackThis log in your next reply

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall
