    Hello,
Close all browser windows, restart Hijack This and put a checkmark next to the following entries:

    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = about:blank
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =
    O16 - DPF: {03F998B2-0E00-11D3-A498-00104B6EB52E} (MetaStreamCtl Class) - https://components.viewpoint.com/MT..._dlp_pillar.jsp

    Click Fix Checked

Reboot and post a fresh log

Could you be more specific about what problems you are having?

Owen thanks for your great assistance and the help of your team. The specifics are: I had W32/KeyHostE.Trojan as per Protector Plus 2000 ( Norton did not find it, eventhough definitions were current!?!) I removed the virus and Documents&Settings\DaddyJoe\LocalSettings\Temp\TH1 7515.tmp\twaintec.dll
and the same as above but ending in \twtini.cab After removing these and rebooting I would receive a dialogue error box from microsoft saying I had a serious error and they asked me to send them a report. I did and they replied that I might have a device drive problem. I had not recently added and equipment, so I was very concerned. The detail of the microsoft report pointed to: Documents&Settings\DaddyJoe\LocalSettings\Temp\WER a80c.dir00\mini100904-01.dmp and Documents&Settings\DaddyJoe\LocalSettings\Temp\WER a80c.dir00\sysdata.xml. I tried to remove these with regedit, but could not find them so I removed them with windows explorer only to have them come back in a slightly modified location after a reboot. Also somewhere during the process I got the message %systemroot%\system32\dumprep0-K and upon closing out of XP for the night my computer would reboot instead of shutting down (only happened a few times).

So as for now after following your suggestions-no more messages from XP after startup and shutting down without incident. I look forward to your reading the log and seeing if any further adjustments are indicated. I thank you and Bear for your very kind help. I recommend you all highly. With your permission I am going to check the condition of my kids computers and the wife's to see if they can run better. Thanks so much. Joe

    P.S. I rate you a 5 Since 1,000 is not allowed.

Save 20% on AVG Internet Security 2012 Suite!
Just to make everything has removed sweetly:

Go to Start> Run and type cleanmgr.

    Put a checkmark in:
    Recycle Bin
    Temporary Files
    Temporary Internet Files

Click Ok to let it clean them.

    Then boot into Safe Mode.

Go to C:\documents and settings\DaddyJoe\local settings\temp and once in the folder click Edit> Select All. Then hit the delete key to get rid of the entire contents of the folder. Leave the folder itself intact though.

Then reboot, that should help you out
