As soon as I type something in the search bar and hit enter or when I adjust the volume through volume control I get the following windows error message...

A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program's internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must now be terminated.


When I click OK, explorer crashes (the desktop & taskbar disappear) and then quickly reboots. As soon as the desktop and taskbar reappear, the Buffer overrun dialog pops right back up. This repeats until I reboot the system.

Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and choose Install to extract it to its own folder on the Desktop. Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :

• Restart your computer
• After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
• Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
• Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
• Choose your usual account.

• In Safe Mode, right click the SDFix.zip folder and choose Extract All,
• Open the extracted folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
• Type Y to begin the script.
• It will remove the Trojan Services then make some repairs to the registry and prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
• Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
• Your system will take longer that normal to restart as the fixtool will be running and removing files.
• When the desktop loads the Fixtool will complete the removal and display Finished, then press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
• Finally open the SDFix folder on your desktop and copy and paste the contents of the results file Report.txt back onto the forum with a new HijackThis log.

I followed ur guidlines...it all went exactly the way u said...

The buffer overrun problem was not very frequent for me initially...
After doing whatever u said I have not seen that problem again as of now...

However I saw a new error message this time...when i tried to search something in search bar it said internet explorer has aborted its operation and IE hungged...i killed it manually thru task manager...

However I saw a new error message this time...when i tried to search something in search bar it said internet explorer has aborted its operation and IE hungged...i killed it manually thru task manager...

The original problem still persists...i.e. i'm still getting the following error:

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

• Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
• If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
• Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
• The scan may take some time to finish, so please be patient.
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
• Make sure that everything is checked , and click Remove Selected.
• When disinfection is completed , a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart(See Extra Note).

Hi,

The performance of my pc is better than wat it use to be previously...thnx again...
However, while surfing I can c some junk pop ups even though my pop blocker is up n running...
Also I still feel some thing is wrong as it automatically keeps on turning my privacy tab in the internet option from default ("medium") to "accept all cookies"...

Delete on reboot.

I hope you have rebooted since your last fix as a number of fix items were indicated as such.



Let us see/review what is loaded on your PC:

• Run HijackThis and Click Open the Misc Tools section button.
• Then click the Open Uninstall Manager… button.
• Click the Save list… button. Save uninstall_list to your desktop.
  
  
• Open the Uninstall list file and post in your next reply, please.

A popup blocker is generally very ineffective against the 'vundo' infection. Your popup issues were clearly not prominent in your description of your issues.



You might want to printout or save the following instructions to your desktop for subsequent referral since several reboots will be required.

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.

• Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
• Click the Scan for Vundo button.
• Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
• You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
• Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
• When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
• Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.

Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.

Tell us how your PC is now doing. There will normally be, at least, some additional cleanup steps that will need to be done.

Yeah I do rebooted my system after the last fix...and it deleted some files after the reboot...

The vundoFix was not able to find any threats on my PC...it scanned and end up showing no infected files found...
