CiD Pop ups and HiJack this log

    PLEASE HELP!!!

They are so annoying and getting more and more frequent and pop up blocker is on the highest setting.

I have Norton Internet Security 2008 and windows defender running and neither of them have sorted it.

Done the old control panel>add/remove>windows messeger live>sponsors etc (not sure if that is bang on but did everything all other forums have said plus removed everything that said windows live messenge) but still getting them, literally 2 every minute, and its obvious to tell when ones going to pop up because the computer slows to a crawl.

I dont know what else to try but this.
Below is my HiJack this log - please help me!

    Best regards
    Scott

SELECT HijackThis FIX ITEMS: Scan with HijackThis and place a check next to these items:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Love default global mess] C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\APPLICATION DATA\great coal love default\bits skip.exe

Make sure that all browser windows and internet links are closed, even this one!
    CLICK ’FIX CHECKED’ with HijackThis.

The following tool will not necessary fix any or all of your popup issues but will at least provide potentially valuable diagnostic information:

Please Download NoLop to your desktop from one of the links below...
    Link 1
    Link 2
    • First close any other programs you have running as this will require a reboot
    • Double click NoLop.exe to run it
    • Now click the button labelled "Search and Destroy"
<<your computer will now be scanned for infected files>>
    • When scanning is finished you will be prompted to reboot only if infected, Click OK
    • Now click the "REBOOT" Button.
    • A Message should popup from NoLop. If not, double click the program again and it will finish. Please Post the contents of C:\NoLop.log

--If you receive an error, "mscomctl.ocx or one of its dependencies are not correctly registered," please download mscomctl.ocx to your system32 folder and then rerun the program.

    DELETE FOLDERS:

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\APPLICATION DATA\great coal love default

Let us know how things are now behaving: any new or remaining apparent issues.

    Hello Thankyou for your help!

I have followed all of you steps to the letter, except the *DELETE FOLDERS* C:\Documents and settings\all users\APPLICATION DATA\great coal love default - as the APPLICATION DATA folder does not seem to exist here, thus I cant get to great coal love defult.

The thing is, everything I have read says windows live messenger causes this, but my dippy younger brother 'needs it for his homework', is there a way you can get round this???

I did get 2 pop ups instantly after deleting what you said to in hi jack this, but since running NoLop and rebooting, I have not as yet had another pop up...

    However, below is the NoLop.log.

    Please assist further.

    Thankyou.

There is no problem with Messenger, itself. However, Messenger Plus is a third party add-on that can be used without issue as long as it is downloaded and installed without sponsors. If that add-on gets on your PC again, an uninstall (and NOLOP) can specifically target only the sponsor (LOP) component. Or simply have your brother stay away from that add-on (easier said that done).

    Hello Again.

I think we might be half way to fixing this fault.

I have been on my user name for several hours today and not had a single CiD pop up or any other pop up - GREAT! Thankyou!!!

BUT, my brother has just logged on to his user name and had lots of pop ups, the first one pretty much as soon as he connected to our broadband.

Any suggestions? Such as a hijack this log from his user area (ill add it at the end anyway)???

I have also removed all window live messenger items etc but as I am writing this short message, two pop ups have appeared on the screen (I am writing off his user account - not mine which like i said i 'hope' is fixed)

    Warm Regards
    Scott
