Friends PC, XP MCE 2005, problems seem to be that it's missing certain DLL files (one I saw error messafge for was PNQNQDMA.DLL the other one seems to be something like OWKITIEI.DLL, plus a cou;ple others (google throwing up no answers) all coming from c:\Windows\System32 folder....

System won't let you do a Sys Restore, so can't go back past this month!

Basically the problem sems to be it won't let you download - try to download something (like BBC iPlyayer for example) the Download Manager says it isn't there - when it is. Same with PartPoker.com - won't let you play cos it seems to not let you download the data - yet Youtube and the like work fine - so did d'loading HJT....

I don't know a lot about the machine - never go on it myself just helping out someone from work - so if you see anything obvious thats causing the DLL issues, just lemme know and I'll try it.

I'd rather not have to reformat and reinstall the OS as it's not my PC and of course everything will be lost (and no disc for the OS came with the machine so can't even do a repair!!!)

Download ComboFix from one of the following links below (from your PC to use on the other PC):

Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet and restore connections before it completes its run. • Very Important! Temporarily disable your:
  • anti-virus,
  • script blocking and
  • any anti-malware real-time protection
  before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause unpredictable results.
• Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.
  
  
• Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
• When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log and a HijackThis log in your next reply

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall
