Which antivirus/antispyware running together?
Having used this site before and received excellent help and advice, I would like to ask a quick question:
Which 2 (or more) free antivirus /antispyware programs would you recommend to have running together? (Is it feasable to have more than 1 real time scanning program active, or is it OK if one is antivirus and one is antispyware)?
Are there any known conflicts between certain programs or are some more resource hungry than others.
It's tough to choose between AVG, Avast, Spybot, AdAware, Super Antispyware, Windows Defender, etc, etc.
What I suppose I am looking for is the best compromise between protection and performance - (not everyone has a dual core cpu and 2GB RAM, and can't run too many startup programs together).
Cheers
Dave

I have AVG free
Comodo firewall free as well
Spybot S&D also free
Paid for version of Sunbelt Counterspy
I also have a folder on my desktop tucked away neatly with:
AVG antispyware 7.5 as on demand scan only free version
Super antispyware as on demand scan only free versiion
And various specialized tools as well that are used in the fight against malware
AVG free, SpyBot, Comodo firewall and Counterspy are up and running all the time
Hope this helps

Thanks Neal, good advice.
I also have AVG free & Spybot S&D together, was wondering what else to try or have handy to use.
Not currently using any firewall, been told I should be OK behind my NAT router - is this correct or am I at risk?
Cheers

You really need a firewall even if router firewall is present, that is the way I have mine setup.
