    Question Buggy Pc(RESOLVED)

Hi, I have just had a look at my mums old pc and found it to be full of pop-ups and general nasties.
She previously had a copy of Panda 2006 antivirus which I performed a scan with and found nothing- as it wasn't registered I got rid and downloaded the AVG free as recommended here- performing spybot, adaware and avg scans and getting rid of loads of crap (AVG detected 79 threats alone- various virus and trojan horse files!)
I just wanted to check really that there is nothing else nasty on the pc and wondered if you ahve any avdvice that I can give her or programs I can install on her pc for here to make it safer?-

    uninstall thru add/remove program:

    GameSpy Arcade
    MyWay Search Assistant
    Viewpoint Media Player

Download SDFIX and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and choose Install to extract it to its own folder on the Desktop. Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
    • Restart your computer
    • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
    • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
    • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
    • Choose your usual account.
    • In Safe Mode, right click the SDFix.zip folder and choose Extract All,
    • Open the extracted folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
    • Type Y to begin the script.
    • It will remove the Trojan Services then make some repairs to the registry and prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
    • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
    • Your system will take longer that normal to restart as the fixtool will be running and removing files.
    • When the desktop loads the Fixtool will complete the removal and display Finished, then press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
    • Finally open the SDFix folder on your desktop and copy and paste the contents of the results file Report.txt back onto the forum with a new HijackThis log

Please Download NoLop to your desktop from one of the links below...
    Link 1
    Link 2
    Link 3[list]

I notice that you have Spybot's TeaTimer running. While this is normally a wonderful tool to protect against hijackers, it can also interfere with HijackThis fixes. So please disable TeaTimer by doing the following:
    1. Run Spybot-S&D
    2. Go to the Mode menu, and make sure "Advanced Mode" is selected
    3. On the left hand side, choose Tools -> Resident
    4. Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts
You can reenable TeaTimer once your system is clean.

Run hijackthis and click on "scan system only" button and put checks next to these:

    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page =

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {EA962E90-3DD7-CA34-5C90-DD45F62780F8} - C:\DOCUME~1\Harriet\APPLIC~1\BURNME~1\BEEP TITLE.exe (file missing)

    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Tons32] C:\DOCUME~1\Duncan\APPLIC~1\PHONEF~1\grey dog.exe

O23 - Service: Windows Bootable Service - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\svshost.exe (file missing)

Everything closed out but hijackthis and click on "fix checked"

Now reboot into safe mode by tapping your F8 key upon restart and safe mode screen appears, select safe mode and press enter.

Navigate to these files or folders using Windows Explorer (OR Start -> Search) and delete (if present):

    DELETE FOLDERS

    C:\DOCUME~1\Harriet\APPLIC~1\BURNME~1 begins with BURNME
    C:\DOCUME~1\Duncan\APPLIC~1\PHONEF~1 begins with PHONEF

    Reboot back to normal mode.

Be advised that backdoor trojans were found on the computer, which makes it untrustworthy for any financial transactions because we cannot be sure we got it all. That is the nature of the beast, very bad.

How is the computer behaving now?

    Hi,

Thanks alot for your help- the computer seems to be running faster now and is not plauged with popups.
I couldn't find any files relating to
    C:\DOCUME~1\Harriet\APPLIC~1\BURNME~1 begins with BURNME
    in safe mode.
BUT I did find folders called PHONEFIRSTDUMB in the application data file of all four users so I deleted all four folders as I didn't see that it had any use and I imagine it was this:
    C:\DOCUME~1\Duncan\APPLIC~1\PHONEF~1 begins with PHONEF

I'll make sure that it doesn't get used for financial transactions. I would like to make a donation as an token of appreciation but I will do this from my own PC!

Just one final HiJack This Log for you then, does it look ok now?
