    Problem with internet on my laptop!

    Hello! I am having a problem with the internet on my laptop. My browsers stop connecting to the internet and I have to reboot in order for them to connect again, and then maybe 10 minutes later, they stop connecting again. Our other laptop and the desktop work with no problems. Here is my hijackthis log:

    Not seeing much in your log.


    1. Download this file - COMBOFIX
    2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
    3. When finished, it will produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply

    Note:
    Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.


    Post a new hijackthis log also please.




    Open Hijackthis.

    Click the "Open the Misc Tools" section Button.

    Click the "Open Uninstall Manager" Button.

    Click the "Save list..." Button.

    Save it to your desktop. Copy and paste the contents into your reply.

    I notice that you have Spybot's TeaTimer running. While this is normally a wonderful tool to protect against hijackers, it can also interfere with HijackThis fixes. So please disable TeaTimer by doing the following:
    1. Run Spybot-S&D
    2. Go to the Mode menu, and make sure "Advanced Mode" is selected
    3. On the left hand side, choose Tools -> Resident
    4. Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts
    You can reenable TeaTimer once your system is clean.


    You can uninstall this from add/remove program:

    On top you'll find 'Browse'
    Click the browse button and browse to next file:

    Click open.
    Then click the 'Send' button next to it.
    This will scan the file. Please be patient.
    Once scanned, copy and paste the results as well in your next reply.

    OK, so the internet worked great right after I did all of the above. I used it for about an hour with no interruptions. I turned it off, then turned it back on about 4 hours later. It lets me "surf the net" for maybe 10 minutes, then stops and I have to restart the computer again to get back on the internet. So basically it's doing the same thing it was before. What do you think?

    I am on a router. I didn't contact the internet provider because my desktop (which is connected to the router) and my husband's laptop both work fine, no interruptions at all. Plus my internet connection always says "connected." Any ideas?

    Sounds like something other then malware which makes me want to send you to the other side of this forum and let the experts there try to figure that out for you as this is a malware forum here but we can do one more scan just in case.




    Do an online scan (scan only tool) with Kaspersky WebScanner
    [Internet Explorer required]


    Click on Kaspersky Online Scanner

    You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
    • The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
    • Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
    • Now click on Scan Settings
    • In the scan settings make sure that the following are selected:
      • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
        - Extended (if available otherwise Standard)
      • Scan Options:
        - Scan Archives
        - Scan Mail Bases
    • Click OK
    • Now under select a target to scan:
      • Select My Computer
    • This program will start and scan your system.
    • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
    • Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
      • Now click on the Save as Text button:
    • Save the file to your desktop.

    Post the results of the scan back here please and a new hijackthis log.
