stays on for about 5mins or 10mins and swiches off why
Is there no warning or errror messages before this happens? A consistent pattern like that is often the result of overheating and/or maybe power supply problems. Initial troubleshooting should consider that. Suggest you leave your case open to facilitate better air flow and see if any fans are no longer working. If overheating is the problem your PC should stay running for longer than has been the case.

Excessive dust accumulation could cause the temperature to increase somewhat - but is not generally a major problem issue all by itself.

when i try to do online virus or spyware scans after part way through scans pc switches off only with scans
I suspect that any scans you are attempting to run are being impacted by currently running AOL security tools. If those tools include antivirus (plus currently active antispyware protection) they are likely conflicting with these other tools that you are attempting to run:

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\AOL\1186255989\ee\aolsoftware.exe
    c:\program files\common files\aol\1186255989\ee\services\antiSpywareApp\ve r2_0_12\AOLSP Scheduler.exe

You would need to determine how to disable the running AOL tools or uninstall them altogether.

hi i took side off and on the fan on processer it was completely clogged with dust .....2questions

1/if the temperature was increase somewhat ,would this automaticaly make pc switch off?....or as you said the aol

I suspect that any scans you are attempting to run are being impacted by currently running AOL security tools. If those tools include antivirus (plus currently active antispyware protection) they are likely conflicting with these other tools that you are attempting to run:

i have now disabled these and now the online scans work ....

2/so could this of been the reason for pc switching off?

    hasnt cut off yet

Possibly both issues could have contributed to the shut down. As a CPU processor overheats running applications may start to do strange things. Newer systems now normally have component heat shutoff thresholds - after which point the PC shuts down to try and avoid damage to the CPU.

Save 20% on AVG Internet Security 2012 Suite!
You should get a can of compressed air and periodically clean out your PC fans, etc. of dust accumulation:

Please ensure that you ALWAYS do this on a COLD SYSTEM since extended use of compressed air can become very cold and could cause component stress damage on super hot components.
