Close all browser windows, restart Hijack This and put a checkmark next to the following entry:

    O16 - DPF: {DB893839-10F0-4AF9-92FA-B23528F530AF} - http://deposito.hostance.net/dialer/1017539.exe

    Click Fix Checked

Reboot and post a fresh log.

I can't see anything nasty in there, would you like me to provide some optional fixes to help speed up your computer. Zone Alarm hogs a lot of resources and I'm not very fond of this firewall. It causes lots of slow downs and many compatability issues. If you want to remove and replace Zone Alarm and see if any alternative makes things any faster, let me know and I'll give you instructions for ensuring Zone Alarm is correctly uninstalled (its important you remove it correctly).

many thanks for your assistance,I have done as instructed and attached the new log.
I have always used zone alarm on my pc and not had any problems and this is something that happened suddenly.
When i boot up now i open task manager to see what system resources are being used when programs wont open and none show up and cpu idle speed is 98-100%.but it often sounds like something is going on inside.
    thanks again

Could you please copy and paste the next log into your actual post please.

Restart Hijack This and put a checkmark next to this optional entry:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot

    Click Fix Checked

It is an Application Scheduler installed along with RealOne Player. Once installed, it runs independently of RealOne Player. To disable "tkbell.exe" in the new version (1) Start RealOne Player (2) Tools -> Preferences (3) Automatic services in the Categories pane (4) Uncheck all options and then OK

Have you recently updated Zone Alarm? It used to be a very good firewall but after each update it got more and more bulkier and started causing more and more problems for people.

Another big resource hog you have in there which always causes slow downs is IncrediMail. Most people usually dump it after the novelty wears off but some keep it and nearly all admit that it does cause quite a lot of slow downs. They still continue to use it though.

Make sure you have fully uninstalled Zone Alarm via the instructions here. You also need a new firewall ASAP. I suggest you download the free version of Sygate from http://soho.sygate.com.

Your Hijack This log is clean, how are things running?

    hi owen.
thanks for zone alarm info.to be honest i dont feel confident enough to follow the uninstall instructions they seem a bit daunting to me.
I am now using the XP firewall and when i tested it all ports showed as blocked so should i stay with it?.
unfortunatly the original problem is still very much there.once running everything is fine but when first booted up it takes ages before any programs will open.also if its been on standby same thing happens.
I will probably take the pc back to where i purchased it so they can check it out.
thanks again for all your help

It may be a memory or hardware problem as well. I suggest you post in our Hardware forum and say that owen has checked my Hijack This log so its not a spyware or virus problem. Explain your other problems.

As for the XP Firewall, its not the best in the world because it doesn't filter outbound traffic. I suggest you download Sygate. Once downloaded, just open Sygate, at the bottom right click Generic Host for Win32 Services and select block. You should be good to go then. Sygate will give you the occasional popup about applications accessing the net. Once you have got things configured, you should only get popups when you install new programs.

many thanks again, will let you know what caused the problem when its been checked out.
I did try the Sygate firewall but when testing it a few ports remained open.I am using the Mcafee for a 30 day trial now.bit confused about blocking to generic host win 32 application as the firewall warns me against blocking it?
    thanks again
