had a look at suggested solution - unfortunately it doesn't seem to apply to my problem - the intrusive orange search facility appears when outlook express is opened...it is superimposed on top of OE and does not appear to be interfering with internet explorer...it is a fairly rudimentary search toolbar at the top of an otherwise blank page which if used then opens up the relevant search results in a full on orange search engine page

..behind the irritating orange page in OE the program is still working and receiving emails which i can still access via the "find" facility

...any other thoughts very welcome...

1. Download this file - COMBOFIX
2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, it will produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.


Post a new hijackthis log also please.

the new hjt log and combofix log are pasted below - that combo programme is a scary beastie! i have just noticed that it has reset my computer clock +24hrs...that's why 30/8 is the date of the logs

Let's do one more scan with a tool called silent runners and see if it finds it.


If no joy and that link I provided to you doesn't help then I am out of ideas, maybe call the people that put it there.




Please download SilentRunners from here:
http://www.silentrunners.org/Silent%20Runners.zip

Unzip it to the desktop and double-click on it.
Silent Runners will ask if you want to skip the supplementary search.
Please select 'No' to include them.
The program will take longer to run, but will give us more information.

If you get any kind of warning message about scripts, please choose to allow the script to run.

When the scan is finished, a message will pop up and a logfile will have been created on the desktop.
The logfile is named 'Startup Programs' by default and will be located where the program is.

Please post the entire contents of this logfile for me to see.

your link to the pcadvisor site provided the answer in the entry by fredzepp which reads:-

"Stuartli, thanks for this - I followed your link then went into regedit and deleted the BodyBarPath entry which was calling up the Orange file and this has cleared it, problem solved cheers."

I copied this advice, found bodybarpath in the registry and deleted it - this got rid of the problem at a stroke

with regard to iun6002.exe - i did not install this - do you recommend deletion?

i am planning to surf via firefox using a sandbox in future, as recommended in the 46 best utilities link
