I have picked up a browser hacker and at least 1 virus!! The browser hacker brings up a program called ucleaner and onlinestability. i also have 3 security programs on my desktop that after deleting come back every start up.

The virus is being found in C:\Windows\privacy_danger\index.htm and is callled JS/Phish. Also getting another message pop up on screen saying i have a looksky trojan.

Have ran avg virus scan, avg spyware, adaware and spybot in safe mode but cant get rid of it help please.

You are not running HijackThis (HJT) from a desired location. You really need to setup a dedicated folder for HJT items – to avoid horrible clutter and/or potential lost backup issues.

It's best that the HijackThis tool NOT be located in its current location (particularly on your Desktop or in a TEMP folder). This way you can more easily undo any changes if something goes wrong.

• Create a new folder in your C: Drive.
• Name the FOLDER HijackThis (or HJT) such as C:\Program Files\HijackThis or C:\HJT and
• Move the HijackThis.exe file into the newly created FOLDER.
• Run HJT from there (and revise your shortcut accordingly).

Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

DO NOT RUN ANY OTHER OPTIONS UNTIL REQUESTED TO. This is very important to get an optimal and comprehensive fix. Warning : running option #2 on a non infected computer will remove your Desktop background.



Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

have seen someone with the same problem on this forum so followed the details for that and have removed the main problem using rogue remover but pc seems to be struggling on startup and is running slower.

Install Options:

• Don't install any Toolbars, or other programs, should it ask you!
• Just uncheck the option of installing the Yahoo toolbar.

It will put a shortcut on your Desktop.

Do not run CCleaner until requested later.




Your system has an outdated version(s) of Sun Java that could create serious security exposure issues for your PC.

Update your Java.

Older JAVA versions have vulnerabilities that malware can and are using to infect systems.

Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components.

• Close any programs you may have running, ESPECIALLY your web browser
• Click Start > Control Panel.
• Click Add/Remove Programs.
• Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE) in the name.
• Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
• Repeat as many times as necessary to remove all versions of Java.
• Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.

Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6.0 Update 2 or higher, and install it to your computer.


New Version should show as (HijackThis log):

Run CCleaner in SAFE MODE (reboot tapping the F8 key after the beep).

Select the ‘Options’ BUTTON option (top LEFT), ‘Advanced’ BUTTON, and then UNCHECK the ‘Only delete files in Windows Temp Folders older than 48 hours’ (often, the latest download traffic could be the bearer of bad content).

Select the ‘Cleaner’ BUTTON option (top LEFT), if not already selected. Use the ’Windows’ TAB up front by default.

• Uncheck ‘Cookies’ option (advisable)
• Optionally, Uncheck ‘Recently Typed URLs’ option (potentially still useful)
• Click the ‘Analyse’ button.
• Thereafter, click ‘Run Cleaner’ after you have reviewed what it proposes to clean.

That seems to have made difference. When i downloaded java i used the windows one but then saw there is one for amd 64 which my pc has. Should i have downloaded that one instead?

You should uninstall this application older version:

Adobe Acrobat 5.0

When i downloaded java i used the windows one but then saw there is one for amd 64 which my pc has. Should i have downloaded that one instead?

The current 32 bit version now in use seems to have improved matters. You can certainly try the 64 bit version to see if that is equally or more acceptible.
