Hi,
All of the sudden, I have a few new things in my task manager. Namely net.exe, net1.exe and cmd.exe (each have more than one process). They constantly pop up, drain my CPU usage % and then disappear. I did a SpyBot & Ad-Aware scan. And another problem my Norton AntiVirus 2006 only scans around 900 of my files, although I have more than that (250 GB HDD). Below is the HijackThis log:

SELECT HijackThis FIX ITEMS: Scan with HijackThis and place a check next to these items:

Make sure that all browser windows and internet links are closed, even this one!
CLICK ’FIX CHECKED’ with HijackThis.

Stop, Disable, and Remove a Service

• Go to Start » Run » type: Services.msc » OK.
• Scroll down and find this service: (each bracketed TEXT service name listed above)
• Double-click on it.
• Under the General tab, click the Stop button.
• Then change the Startup Type to Disabled.
• Click Apply and then OK.

Next:

• Run HijackThis.
• Click on ’Open the Misc Tools section’.
• Click on ’Delete an NT Service’.
• Enter (each service name TEXT LABEL without the brackets) into the input BOX (make sure there are NO spaces before or after the name).
• Click OK and select NO when asked to reboot.

REBOOT when all items have been entered.




POST A REVISED HIJACKTHIS LOG for review:
Reboot and post a new HijackThis log with any feedback as appropriate - how things are now behaving: any new or remaining apparent issues.

ok the net1.exe, cmd.exe & net.exe stopped popping up.
I forgot to mention that since i got this problem my upload speed became very low (before: 20KB/s, now: 5KB/s ). And it's still low after doing the fixing

Are you getting the same result under FireFox and IE? Is this your only remaining problem?


If your issues are related to 'FireFox', you might want to try and uninstall it and specifically delete any leftover FOLDER references to it (including Application Data) before trying a complete and clean reinstall.

We can try several scanning tools but the above issues may not be easily resolvable:

Run http://www.nanoscan.com. It is an initial one minute scan followed by options to run a five minute scan and/or a full scan.


Please download AVG Anti-Spyware to your Desktop or to your usual Download Folder. (NOTE: This a different tool from the AVG Antivirus Tool.).

• Install AVG Anti-Spyware by double clicking the installer.
• Follow the prompts. Make sure that Launch AVG Anti-Spyware is checked.
• On the main screen under Your Computer's security.
  • Click on Change state next to Resident shield. It should now change to inactive.
  • Click on Change state next to Automatic updates. It should now change to inactive.
  • Next to the words Last Update, click on Update now. (You will need an active internet connection to perform this)
  • Wait until you see the Update successful message.

Close ALL open Windows / Programs / Folders. Please start AVG Anti-Spyware and run a full scan.
Note: If AVG Anti-Spyware screen does not fit your monitor screen Hold down the Alt button on keyboard then tap spacebar, menu should pop up then choose maximize. AVG Anti-Spyware screen should now fit to the screen a lot better.

• Click on the Scan tab.
• Click on Complete System Scan to start the scan process.
• Let the program scan the machine.
• When the scan has finished, follow the instructions below.

IMPORTANT : Don't click on the "Save Scan Report" button before you hit the "Apply all Actions" button.

• Make sure that Set all elements to: shows Quarantine (1), if not click on the link and choose Quarantine from the popup menu. (2)
