How can I speed up this thing? It is so very slow. I have internet cable, but is still slow. Also just moving from prog to prog w/o the inet, is slow.

To clean your temp folder, recycle bin, etc..please download this free tool:

CCleaner

Don't install any Toolbars, or other programs, should it ask you!Just uncheck the option of installing the Yahoo toolbar.
It will put a shortcut on your Desktop.

Uncheck cookies

Before first use:
Select Options then Advanced.
UNCHECK "Only delete files in Windows Temp folder older than 48 hours"

Click on CCleaner to start it. Then click "Run Cleaner", just use the windows tab up front by default.


Then Reboot (Exit)




Open Hijackthis.

Click the "Open the Misc Tools" section Button.

Click the "Open Uninstall Manager" Button.

Click the "Save list..." Button.

Save it to your desktop. Copy and paste the contents into your reply.



1. Download this file - COMBOFIX
2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, it will produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.


Post a new hijackthis log also please.

I now have 2 other problems:

1.)When I boot up the computer, I get a msg, "Failed to start the Control Center 2.0. The required registry information is mission. Pls install the MFL. PRO SUITE (CCO25).

I went to Google to find out what this was ---apparently it is part of the driver for my Brother printer.


2. When I tried to run HIJACKTHIS, I now get a msg, "Hijackthis is not a valid Win 32 application".


I suppose I could use the system restore to go to a previous time when I didn't get these messages, but thot I would wait for your response. Thank You, Ken Weidenaar

Correction -- should say 'missing' instead of 'mission' in previous xmission.

I would uninstall the printer and re-install at a later date for now.



Please go to hijackthis.exe and right click on it and then click on rename and rename it to foolyou.exe, press enter
and post a new log from the newly renamed hijackthis.exe. Sometimes malware hides from hijackthis.exe.
