Very Slow Computer

Re: Very Slow Computer
Create a folder such as C:\HJT or C:\Program Files\HJT and move HJT.exe into the newly created folder so we can have available backups in case you fix the wrong thing or I make a mistake. Very important.
Things to help speed up your computer:
Run hijackthis and click on scan only button and put checks next to these:
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
O2 - BHO: Google Desktop Search Capture - {7c1ce531-09e9-4fc5-9803-1c2956615786} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SpywareBot] C:\Program Files\SpywareBot\SpywareBot.exe -boot
O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} (RdxIE Class) - http://software-dl.real.com/22de0d06...p/RdxIE601.cab
With nothing open but hijackthis click on "fix checked"
Now reboot into safe mode by tapping your F8 key upon restart and safe mode screen appears, select safe mode and press enter.
Navigate to these files or folders using Windows Explorer (OR Start -> Search) and delete (if present):
DELETE FOLDERS
C:\Program Files\SpywareBot > fake program

AdwareAlert is unneeded if you have spybot and adaware.
Do you really need Google toolbar?
HP photosmart printers are a huge resource hog, I've got one it took up more then 200MB's of space. I took it off.
Symantec is also a huge resource hog, a free anti-virus like AVG or Avast which I have and a free firewall like sunbelt kerio or zoneLabs takes up less space.
Do you really need Windows Media Player and Real Player at the same time?

Thank you for all your efforts. I don't think the speed has improved much.
I believe as a result, I also must re install some drivers -- but that's a small price when attempting improvements. I appreciate your work and will send a small donation to the cause.
Best Wishes, Ken
