Mouse acting crazy

    Mouse acting crazy

I have ran adware remover, spyware remover, and anti-virus, with no help.

The problem is quite similar to other infections I have seen in the past (browser hijackers), but this one seems to affect other areas of the system. For example: when I click in the address bar to type in an address, it does not put a cursor there. When I click on any links I have as buttons (or buttons of any kind for that matter, they are visibly clicked (changes color on mouse click, and back on mouse release), but no response. When I click on the drop down arrow in the address bar that shows sites you have entered into the address bar in the past... it comes down, then goes right back up... seems like a browser hijacker, right? But my desktop icons are affected as well!

I put all my desktop icons on the taskbar to free up space on the desktop. I have had it set this way for years. On the taskbar, all you have to do is click once on the icon to launch the program. Now, when I click on CERTAIN icons (folders), another toolbar of that icon is created, instead of launching the window! If the icon is not a folder, but a launchable program... click all you want, but nothing happens.

The weirdest thing of all is that this seems to only get worse, affecting more areas of the OS (other interactive buttons, menus, windows, etc.) the more you interract with something that is not working corrctly. Then, for some reason, everything will work for about 2 mins just fine... until you click on some button somewhere, that starts the whole process all over again.

Here's the problem: I do not know how to "Google" this problem without writing all the above. If this is an infection, it is too well written; with random generators, hidden signatures, masking properties, and the like. If anyone has any ideas, please help.

will post a hijackthis log when I get home if anyone replies...

By all means post a log and we can take a look. If you have problems with hijackthis, do this:

Please go to hijackthis.exe and right click on it and then click on rename and rename it to foolyou.exe, press enter
and post a new log from the newly renamed hijackthis.exe. Sometimes malware hides from hijackthis.exe.

From the read this first at the top of this post is where you will find a good link for hijackthis

That is strange indeed, never run across that before.

Let's do some digging and see what we can find.

First is you need to get you an anti-virus program, I don't see one also a firewall or we are just spitting in the wind, so here are free ones:

Just one of each: and run a scan with the one you pick and let me know if it found anything.

    2. Run your antivirus software regularly, and to keep its definitions up-to-date. If you are thinking about switching, there are a some good free Antivirus programs that are decent, including AVG and Avast!.
    AVG: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1

    Avast: http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

    Firewall:just one

    4. Consider using a free firewall if you are not already using one. Some good free ones are:
    Kerio
    http://www.sunbelt-software.com/Kerio.cfm

    Zone Labs Personal Firewall:
    Zone Labs

    Then:

    1. Download this file - COMBOFIX
    2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
    3. When finished, it will produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply

    Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.

Post a new hijackthis log also please.

well, I went into safe mode, but when I tried to launch AVGspyware, it pops up: Connection to service failed, try reinstalling... anyway, the web is up, as I am typing now, in safe mode. One good thing: I have noticed that while in safe mode, all previous problems are gone, so we know it is definitely something that is loading with normal Windows load. Beyond that, still need help.
Let me say this: I appreciate all you have done, even so far. I never have had anyone reply to any of my posts, so I gave up on them long ago. I only came here on a last ditch effort because this is really bugging me. Also, it is starting to make my online classes quite cumbersome.

Save 20% on AVG Internet Security 2012 Suite!
It is fine to run AVG anti-spyware from normal mode, so try that.

If you get the error again you might of had a bad download so try to uninstall it and re download it and see if a scan will go thru
