Uninstall the BETA version of HijackThis and and reinstall as per instructions here:

    http://www.d-a-l.com/help/showthread.php?t=32403

Download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.
    • Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
    • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
    • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
    • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
    • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
    • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
    • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
    • When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
    • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.

Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.

Combofix seemingly got all the vundo items. Please, let us know how your PC is now behaving.

    Combofix identified issues:
The use of 'MSCONFIG' to disable selected running items is not a good habit to regularly practice. And, many such running items have negligible impact on system performance, anyway. However, it may hide issues or create other potential problems. For example, you currently have an older version of JAVA currently and unnecessarily disabled:

    C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\bin\jusched.exe

That version of JAVA should be uninstalled and you should first enable that item in 'MSCONFIG' before doing that.

Your system has an outdated version of Sun Java that could create serious security exposure issues for your PC.

    Update your Java.

Older JAVA versions have vulnerabilities that malware can and are using to infect systems.

Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components.
    • Close any programs you may have running, ESPECIALLY your web browser
    • Click Start > Control Panel.
    • Click Add/Remove Programs.
    • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE) in the name.
    • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
    • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove all versions of Java.
    • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.

i just tried defraging and it went pretty much straight to it [BSOD]
Defragging a sick PC will generally not fair very well and could even make things worse. BSODs are often very difficult to resolve even with available detailed error messages.

Try running the following BETA tool - it scans for malware based programs running in memory in under one minute:

    www.nanoscan.com

Let us know if anything is found. If possible, try running the five minute additional scan that will be an available option.

    Alternatively,
Your best option may be to try a system restore point (if available) to a date before any known problems or before you started performing any recent fixes?

    Click on Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore.

Check Restore my computer to an earlier date> Click Next.

Choose the date before you performed any recent fixes and click Next and Next again.

    REBOOT .

Your PC may be running an undesirable temporary file from a cache location.

    Clean out TEMPORARY FILES:
To clean your temp folder, recycle bin, etc..please download this free tool:

    CCleaner http://www.ccleaner.com/downloadbuilds.asp

    Install Options:
    • Don't install any Toolbars, or other programs, should it ask you!
    • Just uncheck the option of installing the Yahoo toolbar.

It will put a shortcut on your Desktop.

Do not run CCleaner until requested later.

Run CCleaner in SAFE MODE (reboot tapping the F8 key after the beep).

Select the ‘Options’ BUTTON option (top LEFT), ‘Advanced’ BUTTON, and then UNCHECK the ‘Only delete files in Windows Temp Folders older than 48 hours’.

Select the ‘Cleaner’ BUTTON option (top LEFT), if not already selected. Use the ’Windows’ TAB up front by default.
    • Uncheck ‘Cookies’ option (advisable)
    • Optionally, Uncheck ‘Recently Typed URLs’ option (potentially still useful)
    • Click the ‘Analyse’ button.
    • Thereafter, click ‘Run Cleaner’ after you have reviewed what it proposes to clean.

Thereafter, the main remaining points of specific investigation would be to post the key phrases EXACTLY as found in any BSOD error messages being received.

Save 20% on AVG Internet Security 2012 Suite!
BSODs can be very difficult to resolve. It is likely a hardware issue and/or corruption issue in this case.
