    O23 - Service: McAfee Framework Service (McAfeeFramework) - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\Network Associates\Common Framework\FrameworkService.exe (file missing)
O23 - Service: Network Associates Task Manager (McTaskManager) - Network Associates, Inc.- C:\Program Files\Network Associates\VirusScan\VsTskMgr.exe
Stop, Disable, and Remove a Service
    • Go to Start » Run » type: Services.msc » OK.
    • Scroll down and find this service: (each bracketed TEXT service name listed above)
    • Double-click on it.
    • Under the General tab, click the Stop button.
    • Then change the Startup Type to Disabled.
    • Click Apply and then OK.

    Next:
    • Run HijackThis.
    • Click on ’Open the Misc Tools section’.
    • Click on ’Delete an NT Service’.
    • Enter (each service name TEXT LABEL without the brackets) into the input BOX (make sure there are NO spaces before or after the name).
    • Click OK and select NO when asked to reboot.

REBOOT when all items have been entered.

I have a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse, why the HELL does that need so many files?
That just the way it is - annoying. You can 'fix' those O18 entries if you want (there is a probably an easier way but I do not know it).

Turn off the AVG Anti-Spyware guard or completely exit the application before doing the following fixes.

SELECT HijackThis FIX ITEMS: Scan with HijackThis and place a check next to these items:

    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [ARES] "C:\Program Files\Ares\Ares.exe" -h

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SHSTATEXE] "C:\Program Files\Network Associates\VirusScan\SHSTAT.EXE" /STANDALONE
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MCAFEEUPDATERUI] "C:\Program Files\Network Associates\Common Framework\UpdaterUI.exe" /StartedFromRunKey
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NETWORK ASSOCIATES ERROR REPORTING SERVICE] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Network Associates\TalkBack\TBMon.exe"

Make sure that all browser windows and internet links are closed, even this one!
    CLICK ’FIX CHECKED’ with HijackThis.

Delete any associated FOLDERS (in SAFE MODE):
    Network Associates

Leave them in your Recycle Bin, initially.

Thanks, I'll follow your instructions and report back.
I have a beef against this keyboard - but this isn't the place for it.

Save 20% on AVG Internet Security 2012 Suite!
All went as it should except when I was moving the folders to the Recycle Bin. Somehow I managed to move the Common Framework file but left its NA file behind. I couldn't move it to the bin or delete it. However, with the next startup, it disappeared.
The Error and TskMgr messages aren't showing any more.
