AVG Anti-Rootkit Free Now Available
AVG's rootkit scanner is now out of ßeta and is available for download: AVG Anti-Rootkit Free.

That tool will eventually work into the spyware fighting community if it is found to be effective (against any particular rootkit or in general). The word will get out one way or another. There are several other tools that are commonly used when a rootkit issue is suspected:- rootkitrevealer
- gmer
- blacklight

It has already proven itself a worthwhile tool - receiving good reviews, but like ALL other anti-malware tools, it is not wise to rely on just one. So this has been added to my arsenal, and is not replacing RootkitRevealer or Sophos Anti-Rootkit I currently scan with, but supplementing them.
