General miss-behaving

    General miss-behaving

My pc would seem to be running slow, the desktop will sometimes display on start-up, without any folders or shortcuts and I then have to ' kill' the pc at the mains to get it to turn off, and I also find that when changing from one propgram or folder to another, the desktop items will change from folders/etc to program icons for a few seconds and then change back to their proper icon.
Ive run, spybot-Adware SE and AVG free before the hijack this and do so on a regular basis as a precaution.

PLease exit AVG Anti-Spyware for this fix (right click application icon in tooltray).

Please disable the ‘active protection’ components of the following application(s), as it/they may hinder the removal of some entries. Otherwise, certain cleaning attempts may be wrongly recognized and blocked as hijacking attempts or other potentially inappropriate behavior. You can re-enable such tools after your computer is clean.

    Disable Windows Defender
    • Open Windows Defender
    • Click Tools
    • Click General Settings
    • Scroll down to Real Time Protection Options
    • Uncheck Turn on Real Time Protection (recommended)
    • Close Windows Defender

SELECT HijackThis FIX ITEMS: Scan with HijackThis and place a check next to these items:

    O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.115.54 85.255.112.232

Make sure that all browser windows and internet links are closed, even this one!
    CLICK ’FIX CHECKED’ with HijackThis.

You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
    http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/file...Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure ’Run fixit’ is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts.
You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so.
Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

Once the desktop loads, post the text that will open (report.txt) and a new Hijackthis log in the forum please.

    POSSIBLE ERROR MSG:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\AUTOEXEC.NT not there

You are missing a file which is preventing you from running the wareoutfix tool.

Go to the link below and select your operating system and click the link on that site and follow instructions for obtaining the missing file and try the wareoutfix tool again please.

Ive done that, but my pc still seems slow on accessing some web pages.
The desktop items do still seem to flicker everyso often when swopping between them, but atleast, so far, Ive not lost any of the icons on start up.

    Its done it again!
Started my pc up, and it displayed my desktop background picture, and the start bar, and that was it.
If I clicked on the start bar, the normal menu opened up, but as soon as you clicked on anything, the little egg-timer symbol flashed on screen for a couple of seconds, and then it just disapeared and nothing else happened.
The only way to switch off was to kill the power to the pc.
I will say that the pc has been operating faster on the internet though.

Run fixwareout again and post any fix results.

Using Internet Explorer run Panda's ActiveScan from here and perform a full system scan.

    1. Once you are on the Panda site click the "Scan your PC" button
    2. A new window will open...click the big "Check Now" button
    3. Enter your Country
    4. Enter your State/Province
    5. Enter your e-mail address and click send
    6. Select either Home User or Company
    7. Click the big Scan Now button
    8. If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
    9. It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It will take a couple minutes). You may need to click the ‘Retry again’ BUTTON or you may need to exit and retry at the ‘Scan Now’ BUTTON.

When I click the scan button, nothing at all happens, I have tried to refresh the page a few times, but still nothing happens.

That sometimes seems to happen to me as well - very annoying. And then I manage to get it to work.

As an alternative, you could try a non-online scan:

Click here to download Dr.Web CureIt and save it to your desktop.
    • Doubleclick the drweb-cureit.exe file and Allow to run the express scan
    • This will scan the files currently running in memory and when something is found, click the yes button when it asks you if you want to cure it. This is only a short scan.
    • Once the short scan has finished, mark the drives that you want to scan.
    • Select all drives. A red dot shows which drives have been chosen.
    • Click the green arrow at the right, and the scan will start.
    • Click 'Yes to all' if it asks if you want to cure/move the file.
    • When the scan has finished, see if you can click the icon next to the files found:
    • If so, click it and then click the next icon right below and select Move incurable as you'll see in next image:

This will move it to the %userprofile%\DoctorWeb\quarantaine-folder if it can't be cured. (this in case if we need samples)
    • After selecting, in the Dr.Web CureIt menu on top, click file and choose save report list
    • Save the report to your desktop. The report will be called DrWeb.csv
    • Close Dr.Web Cureit.
    • Reboot your computer!! Because it could be possible that files in use will be moved/deleted during reboot.

Post the Dr. Web CureIt Results.
