    Re: about blank.

    Hiya ,
I have followed the instructions as far as No. 5 , the 1st time the computer crashed when running OTMoveIt , then subsequently a further twice when trying to start up in Safe Mode , I eventually got back in Safe Mode but I do not know where the files ,
    C:\Documents ans Settings\All Users\startmenu\programs\startup\office.exe , and WINDOWS\up.bat
    are to be found.
I noticed a desktop icon Desktop.ini has appeared , some log about windows media player , and there is something missing on the task? bar in the righthand corner beside the clock.
I also haven't been able to find the BlackIce program to remove it but have unabled Real Secure Desktop Protection but this seems unstable as it keeps giving me a list of events.

    Help
    Regards
    chezi

So after running OT_MoveIt your computer now only boots into safe mode? Is that correct?

If you need to restore those two files, they should be located in:

    C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles\

Their should also be a log in that same folder. Please post those results so I can see what went wrong.

BlackIce should be located in your add/remove list. It is best to uninstall it rather than just deleting the files/folders. However, let's concentrate on the OT MoveIt part for now. We can get BlackIce in a bit.

I was unable to open OTMoveIt at the 1st attempt while in safemode as the computer crashed. Trying again to run the computer in safemode and the computer then crashed twice , I was on the fourth attempt and was able to open OTMoveIt but I am unsure where the files I have to copy and paste into OTMoveIt are located , do I have to open a folder to see the files so I can copy and paste into the move list?
I can still run the computer in normal mode it is the location of the files that is the problem.

    Hope this makes sense.

    Regards
    chezi

My mistake Chezi. Run OT MoveIt in Normal mode.

As far as the files, you're not actually going to get the files to put into OT MoveIt. You need to copy the text that was in bold and paste it into the OT MoveIt Window. OT MoveIt will go get the files and move them. I have highlighted the paths that you need to copy in Red below.

Here are the directions again for that portion, rembering to do this in Normal Mode.
    1. Please double-click OTMoveIt.exe to run it.
      • Copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):

        C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\start menu\programs\startup\office.exe
        C:\WINDOWS\up.bat

      • Return to OTMoveIt, right click on the "Paste List of Files/Folders to be moved" window and choose Paste.
      • Click the red Moveit! button.
      • Copy everything on the Results window to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), and paste it on your next reply.
      • Close OTMoveIt
If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.

Are there any files in the Moved Files folder? It is located at:

    C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles

Check to see if there is anything in the above folder and let me know.

    C:\WINDOWS\up.bat moved successfully.

This is one of the 2 logs I have found by doing a search in My Computer , they are identical. There is also a file called Windows when I open this there is a sub file "up.bat MS-DOS BATCH FILE " this opens and closes as soon as it is populated , being not to great on computers have no idea how to open this so I can copy and paste.
Am I on the right track here or have I lost the plot????
    Regards
    chezi

just noticed my previous post has the other log , the times they were created are different.

What you report sounds right. In the Moved Files Folder you should see a folder named Windows and in that should be up.bat This doesn't mean however that your entire Windows folder was moved. That is just how _OT MoveIt actually moves the files.

For some reason the first one was not found.

Go ahead and post a fresh Hijack This log and we'll see if anything new has shown up with up.bat moved.

Sorry for the delay Chezi. I've been out of town for a few days.

Your log is looking good. Nothing new showed up after gettign rid of up.bat. There is one abandoned entry that I see but it shouldn't be causing any trouble.

    Are you still having problems?
