Which tool detected the virus? Was this a recent occurance? A P2P (Peer-to-Peer) environment tool (such as BitComet) can make your PC more vulnerable to such virus issues.

Is it still on your system and refusing to go? List any known infected file names determined and the name of the virus (if available).

Yesterday my AVG antivirus cant scan my computer (C:,D:,E: anything), so i run the windows on safe mode and scanned it. i found shell32.dll. what is that?
and now my C:/D:/E: cant be openned my double click. it says : "Can not find script file "C:\.MS32DLL.dll.vbs". ". pls help me. thx.

ok, i found that C:\windows\.MS32DLL.dll.vbs and C:\windows\boot.ini could be infected on avg antivirus. can i just remove them? how to solve this? thx

The first item is probably more likely a virus - the second, not so clear:

There is a generally reliable way to find out for sure and perhaps also an indication of the exact nature of the infection. If you can browse to the following site VirusTotal, then you can submit each file for their analysis and immediate feedback (for posting back here).

Additionally, if AVG removed shell32.dll (did it?) then it would be wise to also scan that one to see if XP reinstated an infected copy or a clean one. You want to be as clear as possible on what you are dealing with before you start removing files. Removing files is not the difficult part - removing the correct ones is often less clearcut.

well, i cant seem to find these files (C:\windows\.MS32DLL.dll.vbs and C:\windows\boot.ini). as for the shell32.dll avg found it as blue color not red color(dangerous), virus total scanned it clear.. so it is still there.

Certain files are hidden by default.
