    lots of problems, mainly start up (RESOLVED)

    System is terribly slow at start up--gets to black window with some system information (screen where you'd push a button for set up--not to any windows screen yet)--it hangs there for up to 6 minutes before booting.

    Now I can't access a common program, getting an active x error and I get alot of script errors when I use my scanner.

    I did use msconfig and remove checks from a number of items, but it seemed to bog computer down more so I rechecked them (fearing I'd turned off something important.)

    Can anyone advise based on this log, or please direct me to a forum that might assist this problem. I'm really not sure where to start.

    Your issues sound pretty serious and I have no real clear starting point issues or strategy to proceed on.


    Your best option may be to try a system restore point (if available) to a date before any known problems or before you started performing any recent fixes?

    Click on Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore.

    Check Restore my computer to an earlier date> Click Next.

    Choose the date before you performed any recent fixes and click Next and Next again


    REBOOT. Tell us how you made out.

    Tried that, and unfortunately it won't accept any restore dates (went back several months).

    System still taking 6-10 minutes to boot.

    This is a computer used for business, so I ended up calling local comptuer place to repair. Found out Mdac? file was corrupt from recent microsoft update. Repair complete and computer is responding normally. You can close this request, but thanks for your help.
