    Cpu usage

    I'm not really sure what went wrong when i am using my comoputer, all of sudden i have recieving these lag spike and once it goes 100% cpu usage it freezes. At first i thought it had somethink to do with the ram but apparently not since i had brought some memory and still the same.

    i had defrag several times and scanned over 5~6 times with the anti virus from different site or programs

    I've wondered ever since i had downloaded limewire it started to happen

    Yes, with such a tool you can be one download from extreme virus or malware trouble.


    I note that you don't appear to have an full-time always on antivirus tool:

    Here are some good free Antivirus programs that are decent, including AVG and Avast! - pick one of these and do a full scan.

    We will be restarting into Safe Mode later on in the fix and you might not be able to access the Internet. Accordingly, it is probably a good idea to print out the following directions or copy them to a text file on your desktop using NOTEPAD. Read these instructions carefully and feel free to ask if you're unsure about anything.




    Download and install AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 (AVG AS - formally known as Ewido anti-spyware 4.0 - uninstall any previous version first).
    • Click the Download BUTTON. On the next page click the Download now BUTTON.
    • Save and then install (Run) from the save location.
    • Open/Run AVG Anti-Spyware
    • Wait a few moments and AVG Anti-Spyware should Auto update itself (note date of last update). If it doesn't update, click the update ICON at top of screen:

    • Click on the Update now LINK at the top of the window
      • Click on the Start update button
      • Wait for the update to download and install
  3. This is very important to get the LATEST updates.
  4. Click on the Status ICON
    • Under "Your computers Security"
      Click change status on Resident shield to inactive (ONLY consider activation of that feature once you are clean)
  5. Click on the Scanner ICON at the top of the window
  6. Click on the Settings tab then select Recommended Actions and choose Quarantine
  7. When updating has finished. Close AVG Anti-Spyware.



    8. We will be using this tool in a later step.




    Reboot your computer in Safe Mode.
    • If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power.
    • Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
    • Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
    • Ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
    • Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
    • Login on your usual account.

    Close ALL open Windows / Programs / Folders. Please start AVG Anti-Spyware , and run a full scan:
    • Click on the default Status ICON and select the Scan now LINK.

      OR

    • Click on the Scanner ICON . Select the Scan TAB.

      • Select Complete System Scan. AVG Anti-Spyware will now begin to scan your system.

    • If AVG Anti-Spyware finds anything it will list them in the Preview WINDOW:
      • Make sure that Set all elements to: shows Quarantine, if not click on the link and choose Quarantine from the popup menu.
      • Select Apply all actions at the bottom of the window (and the items found will be quarantined – and recoverable, if any items are needed back).

    • When the scan has completed, click on the Save Scan Report button and save the scan to your Desktop where it can be easily found.
    • Copy and paste the AVG Anti-Spyware scan results into your next post.
    • Close AVG Anti-Spyware.

    Here the log to both avg and hjt

    The reason there wasn't a anti virus is because the previous time i had this trouble, i had tried solving it and i removed the anti virus because i had tried over 4 softwares. The last time i did this, i had use system restore and was working fine but after few day it start to happen.

    You ran AVG Anti-Spyware and did not fix anything ('No action taken.'). While cookies might be an optional fix, it is still clutter and taking up needless CPU cycles.


    If you are not running a 'proxy server' the following entries are potentially very resource intensive and/or achieving nothing. 127.X.X.X entries are known as 'loopback entries - they do not actually cause traffic to go out into the Internet. This might be the source of your problems.


    Consider fixing the following entries in HijackThis and/or removing any 'proxy server', if present:


    O1 - HOSTS: 127.255.255.255 serial.alcohol-soft.com
    O1 - HOSTS: 127.255.255.255 www.alcohol-soft.com
    O1 - HOSTS: 127.255.255.255 images.alcohol-soft.com


    You might also consider removing 'Flashget' to see if that helps matters.

    I still hav problem after fixing the thing you ask me, after several restart now i am having more trouble starting the browser.

    btw what temperature does the comp usually go?
    and the funny thing when i play counter strike the computer does not lag nor freezes though when i try doing somethink else like opening other program it start to freeze

    Click on the Processes TAB. Then, click the CPU COLUMN to sort by percentage CPU utilized in order to try and identify what program/process is causing all that CPU activity.

    An occasional spike to 100% is not unusual. What is causing the delay (unknown)? A regular pattern of such spiking is very troublesome or unwelcome. I have seen a damaged (optical) mouse cause spiking issues but not in such a uniform regular pattern (verified by unplugging the mouse). It might also be a hard to identify hardware interrupt or driver-based issue.


    'Process Explorer' might help to reveal a running process from a suspect source (sort on vendor COLUMN TAB):

    'SocketShield' (free trial) might also bring to light some underlying process issues that may not be easily evident:

    PE [Process Explorer] should let you track down the offending process and correct it - probably a bad driver.

    Really? I'm not quite sure how PE would tell you where the DPCs are coming from? Any hints?

    I did update the AMD 64 driver last night. DPCs are down to 1.56 percent, which isn't too bad...

    PE will tell you which process(es) is/are causing the CPU spike.

    Expand the view so you can see as much information as possible.
