You are not running HijackThis (HJT) from a desired location. You really need to setup a dedicated folder for HJT items – to avoid horrible clutter and/or potential lost backup issues.
It's best that the HijackThis tool NOT be located in its current location (particularly on your Desktop or in a TEMP folder). This way you can more easily undo any changes if something goes wrong.- Create a new folder in your C: Drive.
- Name the FOLDER HijackThis (or HJT) such as C:\Program Files\HijackThis or C:\HJT and move the HijackThis.exe file into it.
- Run HJT from there (and revise your shortcut accordingly).
People who use Limewire can often end up with an infection like this. At least, stop using it for now.
The following programs are deemed to be undesirable or often have undesirable components included with them. Please remove the following in 'Add/Remove Programs' (Control Panel):
MESSENGERPLUS2
ULTIMATE CLEANER
Download the latest version of CWSHredder to your desktop from here:
http://cwshredder.net/bin/CWShredder.exe
Run this application, initially, ONLY to search for UPDATES.
You may have to do this on another PC - it simply downloads the latest EXE and overwrites the current one (512K).
Download AboutBuster 6.0 from one of these links:
http://www.besttechie.net/tools/AboutBuster.zip
http://www.malwarebytes.org/AboutBuster.zip
Once downloaded, Unzip it to your desktop.
Do not run the actual scan/fix until instructed below.
You will run About:Buster while you are in Safe Mode.
It will create a log in addition to cleaning your system. Post that log into your next reply in this thread.
Download Clean.bat to your desktop: for later use .
http://www.thatcomputerguy.us/downloads/clean.bat
DISCONNECT FROM THE INTERNET
During the fix do NOT connect to the Internet (turn your modem off or disconnect your internet connection wire).
Unless you can memorize these instructions, it would be a good idea to print them out or save these instructions to a file on your desktop (NOTEPAD).
SELECT HijackThis FIX ITEMS: Scan with HijackThis and place a check next to these items:

Make sure that all browser windows and internet links are closed, even this one!
CLICK ’FIX CHECKED’ with HijackThis.
HIDDEN FILES: To make sure you can see all hidden files, please follow the directions here
SAFEMODE: Boot into safe mode by tapping the F8 key at restart and choosing 'safe mode' menu option (explained here if needed).
Run Clean.bat
Go to Start > Run and type: CLEANMGR.EXE and hit enter.
When prompted select the C: drive and click ok.
Check the boxes for:
Temporary Internet Files
Downloaded Program Files
Recycle Bin
Temporary Files
Click OK or Enter
*** Re-run CLEANMGR.EXE once you have regained the full functional use of your PC.
Navigate to or locate the following Files and Folders:
- using Windows Explorer: right click on ‘My Computer’>Explore) or using Start (button)>Search …
Delete these Files (if found):
C:\DOCUME~1\bob\LOCALS~1\Temp\se.dll
C:\DOCUME~1\russ\LOCALS~1\Temp\se.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\faf8f02c.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\tkth.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\bob\Local Settings\APPLICation Data\faf8f02c.exe
Delete these Folders (if found) - preferably using Add/Remove Programs where possible:
None specified.
Now, run AboutBuster and select ’Begin Removal’. Continue running the scan until it shows clean.
Post a copy of the scan results, which will appear in the AboutBuster folder.
Next, run CWShredder
-Click on the: ‘Fix’ button
-Follow the prompts, and press OK
POST A REVISED HIJACKTHIS LOG for review:
Reboot and post a new HijackThis log with any feedback as appropriate - how things are now behaving: any new or remaining apparent issues.

Thanks for your reply.I have followed your instructions.have got so far but you suggested downloading claen.bat to the desktop.the link you supplied
http://www.thatcomputerguy.us/downloads/clean.bat doesn't exsist.looked at the web site but couldn't find it.any other locations that are safe to download?
you advised to delete MESSENGERPLUS2 but i cant find this on my pc?
also i cant delete c:\windows\system32\faf8f02c.exe as it says its protected.
I will try the rest of the advice in the next few days and post another hijack this log when completed.
Thanks Bob

The Clean.BAT link is valid and works for me. If you delay doing all the suggested procedures at once, some of these infections will most likely survive and/or reinstated themselves and perpetuate current interference issues.
Try the following alternative:
Download and install, and then run the following tool in SAFE MODE when (the Clean.BAT procedure is) requested:
Clean out TEMPORARY FILES procedures:
To clean your temp folder, recycle bin, etc..please download this free tool:
CCleaner http://www.ccleaner.com/downloadbuilds.asp
Install Options: - Don't install any Toolbars, or other programs, should it ask you!
- Just uncheck the option of installing the Yahoo toolbar.
It will put a shortcut on your Desktop.
Do not run CCleaner until requested later.
Run CCleaner in SAFE MODE (reboot tapping the F8 key after the beep).
Select the ‘Cleaner’ BUTTON option (top LEFT), if not already selected. Use the ’Windows’ TAB up front by default.- Uncheck ‘Cookies’ option (advisable)
- Optionally, Uncheck ‘Recently Typed URLs’ option (potentially still useful)
- Click the ‘Analyse’ button.
- Thereafter, click ‘Run Cleaner’ after you have reviewed what it proposes to clean.

Please remove MessengerPlus2 - remove the application folder if necessary.
Download and run SpSeHjfix for XP/2000 from here:
http://www.trojaner-info.de/cgi-bin/downlo...gi?file=sphjfix
Post the SpSeHjfix log and re-run your previous removal steps for previously identified items still present.
Post your latest HijackThis LOG.

Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.
Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply (if unsure of your results).
DO NOT RUN ANY OTHER OPTIONS UNTIL REQUESTED TO.
Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

If infected files were listed above, please proceed as follows:
STEP # 2 - Cleaning
Please print out or copy these instructions/tutorial to Notepad as the internet will not be (while in Safe Mode) available to you at certain points of the removal process. Make sure to work through all the Steps in the exact order in which they are listed below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before moving on with the fixes.

- Click on the Scanner ICON at the top of the window
- Click on the Settings tab then select Recommended Actions and choose Quarantine
- When updating has finished. Close AVG Anti-Spyware.
We will be using this tool in a later step.
Reboot your computer in Safe Mode.- If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power.
- Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
- Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
- Ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
- Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
- Login on your usual account.
