    Computer barely working Please Help

My friend asked me to fix his computer and its a mess. I can't get anything done in normal mode so i had to log on in Safe Mode with networking to download spybot, adaware and avg. I have updated and run spybot and adaware a couple of times and they keep finding new things. I can't install avg in safe mode and normal mode is still too crazy to run anything in. Some of the problems i know about are BraveSentry, Toolbar888, winlogon.exe, msserv.exe...much more i am sure. Below is my hjt log. Please help me clean this computer up. Thanks in advance.

So tonight i ran ewido online scanner. Downloaded AVG Spy Anti Spyware and ran that. Then i eliminated 04 entries from hjt to see if i could start in normal mode. some malicious things i know that were in the 04 were mswiz32.exe, mswiizz32.exe and msserv.exe. i was then able to start and do things in normal mode. I installed and ran avg free and it cleared a bunch of things. now when windows trys to install updates a get a blue screen that says stuff about a problem and windows has to be shut down to prevent damage to teh computer. anyway im gonna stop doing stuff on my own here and wait to get a reply about this hjt log. thanks again in advance.

Read over the following directions. Ask if anything appears unclear to you.

We will be restarting into Safe Mode later on in the fix and you might not be able to access the Internet. Accordingly, it is probably a good idea to print out the following directions or copy them to a text file on your desktop using NOTEPAD. Read these instructions carefully and feel free to ask if you're unsure about anything.

SELECT HijackThis FIX ITEMS: Scan with HijackThis and place a check next to these items:

    R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - - (no file)

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {0e6bda36-238c-41d2-a067-2e517955780d} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\asfMON.dll (file missing)

Make sure that all browser windows and internet links are closed, even this one!
    CLICK ’FIX CHECKED’ with HijackThis.

HIDDEN FILES: To make sure you can see all hidden files, please follow the directions here

SAFEMODE: Boot into safe mode by tapping the F8 key at restart and choosing 'safe mode' menu option (explained here if needed).

Navigate to these files or folders using Windows Explorer (OR Start -> Search) and delete (if present):

    DELETE FILES:

    c:\windows\system32\stonedrv.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Settings\artm_new.dll
%TEMP% (all file items found in that TEMP FOLDER - use Start>Run and type '%TEMP%', if necessary)

    DELETE FOLDERS:
CONTENT.IE5 (all instances - make sure that no browser windows are open)

POST A REVISED HIJACKTHIS LOG for review:
Reboot and post a new HijackThis log with any feedback as appropriate - how things are now behaving: any new or remaining apparent issues.

I did everything as you said. stonedrv.exe was not in that folder when i searched for it i found stonedrv.exe - 09BE!9A3.pf in c:\windows\prefetch i didnt do anything to it. there was no documents folder in all users but tehre was a shared documents i checked there and there was no artm_new.dll it didnt come up in a search either. the computer has been running fine since i got avg to run and cleared out a bunch of startup entries except for teh blue screen when windows would try to install updates when shutting down. im going to shut down now so i can let you know if that happens again. i figure i should install all windows updates, activate the firewall (which wouldnt activate before), update and run sbybot adaware and avg but i will wait for your say so. for now i am just gonna shut down. let me know what i should do next. thanks for the help. here is the new hjt log.

i got the blue screen when shutting down again. i have it up on the monitor next to me so i am going to type what it says.

A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in the Stop message, dissable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video adapters.

Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode.

    Technical information:

    ***STOP: 0x0000008E (0x0000005, 0xEF96380E, 0xEEDF6A20, 0x00000000)

    Beginning dump of physical memory
    Physical memory dump complete.
Contact your system admministrator or technical support group for the further assistance.

I looked into the Stop message and it seems to have to do with a device driver anda STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION. I really have no idea how to troubleshoot this but i wanted to let you know that i only have my friends tower. I hooked it up to an old monitor and keyboard. I have no idea if this means anything to you but I figured it couldn't hurt to let you know. Thanks again for the help.

From a technical standpoint your HijackThis log appears to be a clean as it gets for obvious issues.

If a driver is identified in the Stop message, dissable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video adapters.
i only have my friends tower. I hooked it up to an old monitor and keyboard.
It is possible that an old monitor may not be appropriate with the current video driver or adapter in use (hardware compatibility issues). I will have more complete additional observations to make tomorrow.

Well I picked up my friends monitor and keyboard and hooked them up. I am still getting that Stop Message though. It only happens when i try to install windows updates. All the scans are coming up clean and I installed spyware blaster and spware gaurd (i guess i have to set these things up for all of the user accounts on the computer). Does it matter what user account i am under when i run hjt? isnt going to be different for each user?

The stop message dosnt identify a driver (although i did update the monitor driver and nothing is differnt) should i update all drivers? do i have to do that individually for each? What are and how do i get BIOS updates? How do i disable caching and shadowing? I feel as though I'm in over my head here. Thanks for all the help so far, I'm confident you can get me through this.

Oh and i forgot to mention that I can't activate the windows firewall. I figure this may have something to do with windows not being up to date though.

    Heres another hjt log

So everything that i am finding online about the stop message 0x0000008E while installing windows updates seems to be from people who have recently cleared viruses. Apparently something is staying in the registry and preventing some windows updates. Unfortunately I can't find a solution other than reinstalling windows. I havn't done anything about drivers or BIOS cause i really dont know what to do and I really hope I don't have to reinstall windows. I would appreciate any advice you have for me here. Are there any registry tools that might fix my problem?
