How's it looking??
1 more thing you may be able to help with also..
a 'techy' friend of mine tried to sort out the pop-up problem a couple weeks before i found this site.. he downloaded a program called BHODemon.exe. i basically want to get rid of everything that goes with that. not sure what he did but when i boot my laptop i have to now selecet 'windows xp' or 'system recovery' option on a black screen before you log in. (as you would when booting in safe mode) so not sure if thats anything to do with the BHODemon thing. just want to get rid of that too but dont want to mess anything up.
cheers a million!
Ben

DOH, me again.. slight set back.
not been using IE for a while, but opened it up as i wanted to rip something to then find in the cache..
as soon as i opened IE browser, i was in-undated with the usual 4 or 5 pop-ups straight away.
1)
Then i close that and get this:
2)
Then close that and this pops up:
3)
Close that and get a full screen pop up:
4)
Decided to run AVG and it threw this up:

i'm guessing the pop ups have something to do with those top two entrys?? i scanned last night and it was clean, so i assume something is still nestled somewhere?
I thought we'd got it cracked as well!

Found a couple things,
Please download Look2Me-Remover.exe by Atribune to your desktop.- Close all windows before continuing.
- Double-click Look2Me-Remover.exe to run it.
- Put a check next to Run this program as a task.
- You will receive a message saying Look2Me-Remover will close and re-open in approximately 10 seconds. Click OK
- When Look2Me-Remover re-opens, click the Scan for L2M button, your desktop icons will disappear, this is normal.
- Once it's done scanning, click the Remove L2M button.
- You will receive a Done Scanning message, click OK.
- When completed, you will receive this message: Done removing infected files! Look2Me-Remover will now shutdown your computer, click OK.
- Your computer will then shutdown.
- Turn your computer back on.
- Please post the contents of C:\Look2Me-Remover.txt and a new HiJackThis log.

Go here to learn how to show hidden files/folders:
http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html#5
Re-hide after we are done
Now reboot into safe mode by tapping your F8 key upon restart and safe mode screen appears, select safe mode and press enter.
Navigate to these files or folders using Windows Explorer (OR Start -> Search) and delete (if present):

I did the Look2Me-Remover which ran fine, but there's no .txt in my C: ?? I did a file search for it too but nothing showed up. is there something ive missed with enabling a save a log option or something?
how are we looking?
-
Hey if you don't want to remove pacific poker that's fine with me but is associated with spyware.
Silent runners looks better look2me must of removed some things.
Are you still gettting the winfixer popups?
Go to next site:
http://www.virustotal.com/en/indexf.html
On top you'll find 'Browse'
Click the browse button and browse to next file:
C:\WINDOWS\Help\ahrdafx.dll
Click open.
Then click the 'Send' button next to it.
This will scan the file. Please be patient.
Once scanned, copy and paste the results as well in your next reply.
Thanks.
-
Looking good Neal, nothing rearing its ugly head as yet!
