    Errors involved in the accompanying hijack

    Sysfader errors causing the need to shut down IE
    "Must close, sorry for the inconvenience"

    Please see other posts in the Sysfader thread by me, Robbie. All help appreciated. I cannot find out how to reinstall IE for XP SP1 and am unable to install SP2 on my Dell without major complications and the need to restore back to before the SP2 install.

    sysfader errors are caused by poorly written programs. your best bet is to remove the program you installed right before you started getting them.

    three different sources found three completely different "fixes" for Sysfader errors:
    1. caused by Win32.Parite virus.

    Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately nothing worked.

    TrendMicro Housecall found nothing wrong.
    I can't use the IE program you mentioned - I don't think it is compatible with Windows SP1 which is what I am running. FYI -- can't update to Windows SP2 due to Dell's OEM installation and the need to edit Registry, etc.
    No programs were installed prior to the sysfader errors

    New errors now occuring are DDE errors. Is this all connected?
    Also get errors involving... "could not read blah, blah, blah memory, click OK" or something like that.

    Additional help, if available would be appreciated.

    Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)
    Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

    Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
    Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
    Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

    Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

    What is the EXACT error message that you are receiving concerning sysfader? Did you read the other 12 links concerning a partial error message match (some appear to be duplicate cross-postings of the same situation)?

    There appears to be a fairly plausible issue connection possibilty between DDE and sysfader:

    Did this occur once you had switched off the transitions? Is there any specific application situation(s) that can be associated with the DDE errors? How long has this been going on? Something has changed or is now either incompatible or corrupted. There are no overwellming issues apparent in your HijackThis log.

    If you are referring to the 'install IE6 SP1' fix option, you are already showing as 'MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP1 (6.00.2800.1106)' in the HijackThis LOG. We could try to run IE repair and fix utilities but, your IE problem issues are still likely a separate issue from or a consequence of sysfader (the main problem of focus now).

    That comment was more specifically related to any possible issues found by 'smitfraudfix' scan. A disturbing pattern is emerging - each new scan comes with interference issues.

    I await any further details available from any error message content. Until then, we have little to go on to help determine a focused strategy.
