thost files keep popping back up in the System32 folder. even after deleting them. they just pop up right in front of me. the VirusTotal results still haven't come back. Ewido has detected nothing. Spyware Doctor is getting those same trojans except for the first one that started everything. i think that one is deleted now. They come back even when offline. I also noticed a file named XCOPY. Looks suspicious, since it's icon looks like some of the infected files.

I also noticed some files that look similar to them. Like PING6, TRACERPT, REG, TRACER6, REGINI, and TASKMAN. TASKMAN says "Task Manager" when the mouse is above it. The TASKMGR file below it says "Windows Task Manager". When I delete these files, they reappear. Spyware Doctor doesn't detect these "Extra" files as anything bad, but they just look so suspicious.

Your unrequested use of Spyware Doctor (SD) and your hunting around in your files is causing more confusion and distraction than anything else. Also, the constant edits of your most recent posts is really very unproductive feedback for me - I read them and don't go back over the same material, once read.


BOTTOM LINE: how is your PC behaving? Are you still having issues? What are the reportable issues, if any?


All the files you list are normally legitimate 'System' files. If you remove such files, XP will normally put them back. It seems that I incorrectly misread the following line as part of an infected path (late last night)

Trojan.Crypt.E C:\WINDOWS/Sytem32/cmd.com (potentially and likely a false positive determination which SD is more prone to do)


If you are still concerned with such files submit them to VirusTotal Or Jotti.
