Popups(RESOLVED)

Re: Popups
explain further please, you downloaded to desktop right?
All you have to do is double click killbox and follow instructions.
Not sure what you mean by no files or folders.
Should just be a program called killbox.
-
Yes. Let me take you through what happened. I saved killbox to my desktop. I clicked on the icon and then I clicked run. After that, Killbox appears on my screen. The problem is that there aren't any files or folders in the dropdown box. On top of that, the title bar reads: Pocket Killbox 0 files, 0 folders. I think it is telling me that there is nothing to delete. Not quite sure though. Where it says "Full path of file to delete", nothing appears in the aforementioned dropdown box. Thanks for your help and sorry for not elaborating further.
-
when you say drop down box are you talking about the box that says "full path of file to delete"?
If so there is not going to be any until you copy and paste into the box.
-
Ah, that's where I made my mistake. Thank you for catching it and I will follow your instructions.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I copied and pasted the file path into the dropdown box and did your other instructions. Then I clicked "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt and after that the message: PendingFileRenameOperations Registry Data had been Removed by External Process! The only option was ok and I clicked on the X button. I rebooted the computer and I am wondering if I should proceed with the HJT fix or reassess the situation.

yes please continue and when done post a new hijackthis log. Thanks.

I completed your instructions. I don't know if these present a problem, but I found LIESAXISROAD in program files as well as application data. I also found weatherbug in application data. I didn't touch them but I thought I should let you know. I have yet to seen a popup, but I have only searched a few pages as I just finished completing your instructions five minutes ago. By the way, here is a HJT log. I hope everything looks ok. Thanks for your guidance.

Hi,
Run hijackthis and click on scan button and put checks next to these:
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [web ace] C:\DOCUME~1\Clayton\APPLIC~1\LIESAX~1\Gpl grid bleh.exe
O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {CD67F990-D8E9-11d2-98FE-00C0F0318AFE} - (no file)
Nothing open but hijackthis and click on fix checked.
From safe mode delete that folder from both places you found it:
LIESAXISROAD
Then a new log please
-
Hello, I have yet to see any popups. While doing the HJT scan, I came across ViewMGR and I am wondering if I should delete it. Here is a new HJT log. If everything is ok, can I proceed to do an Ad-Aware scan to remove the tracking cookies and such?

Hi, adaware should do that or Ewido just select quarantine then delete from quarantine.
If you have viewpoint etc remove from add/remove first then fix this with HJT and delete the folder.
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ViewMgr] C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe
Nothing open but HJT
Delete this folder:
C:\Program Files\Viewpoint
If all is well will have some free programs for you to check out to secure computer if you want.
-
I did as you said and all seems to be well. I am interested in the programs you mentioned. Thank you for all of your help and your time is greatly appreciated.
