Sluggish internet connection, and computer start-up

First I know you'll ask for my HijackThis Log, but I've seen some of the threads where you have suggested downloading the software from the links you have provided. Here is the list of all the downloads I have downloaded:
    • AVG Free Edition (latest definitions)
    • CCleaner (latest definitions)
    • CWShredder (latest definitions)
    • ewido anti-spyware (latest definitions)
    • MRU-Blaster (latest definitions)
    • SpywareBlaster (latest definitions)
    • Sunbelt Kerio Personal Firewall (latest definitions)
    • Windows Defender (beta 2) (latest definitions)
    • System Mechanic 5* (latest definitions) *Downloaded from "The WindowsXP Clean-up Kit" EZTech Guide Windows XP January/Febuary 2005 CD
I have run Disk Cleanup, and Disk Defragmentor recently. I'm just curious because my desktop has been recently activated, and it seems slower than normal. I use Mozilla Firefox because I feel it's more secure, if that helps. Both Firefox and Internet Explorer appear to be sluggish. I also have Service Pack 2 and I have downloaded the latest Windows Updates.

You may have too many active protection tools running for the horsepower now currently present on your PC.

One at a time, consider disabling active protection for each of the following to see how your PC's performance has been impacted and which tool features you may wish to choose as optional:

Disable Spybot Search & Destroy (Teatimer)

    1) Run Spybot-S&D
    2) Go to the Mode menu, and make sure "Advanced Mode" is selected
    3) On the left hand side, choose Tools -> Resident
    4) Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts
    5) Restart your computer.

Right click on EWIDO icon in the 'system tray'
Click Resident shield so that no checkmark now appears to inactivate EWIDO's active protection

    And lastly,
    Disable Windows Defender
    • Open Windows Defender
    • Click Tools
    • Click General Settings
    • Scroll down to Real Time Protection Options
    • Uncheck Turn on Real Time Protection (recommended)
    • Close Windows Defender

Alright. Thanks for the reply. One question, does Spybot Search & Destroy (Teatimer) stop spyware, adware, etc. already on my system, from executing or does it provide just online residence? Because if it stops spyware possibly on my system from starting up, then I think I'll keep it on. I'll just watch how many active programs I have loaded at once and monitor my speed.

Save 20% on AVG Internet Security 2012 Suite!
'Active protection' prevents many potential INCOMING malware changes from being allowed to occur without challenge.

Windows Defender and TeaTimer 'active protection' components do similar things so you don't really want to have both tools running at the same time:
    Protection of over-all system settings
If there are suspicious attempts to change these settings, these protection processes put barriers in the way and/or provide user alerts.
