    Re: IE AND OE are both Troublesome

    Neal-

    This may be helpful for determining OE failures. I am unable to Compact All Folders. I get a box that tells me "the folder is currently in use by Outlook Express or another application."

    Mean anything?

    This is a sampling of the sort of rejections I get when I insert an image in a message sent by OE:

    BANNED FILENAME ALERT

    Our content checker found
    banned name: message/partial
    in email presumably from you (<barnacle@chasvoice.biz>), to the following recipient:
    -> rbalko@gmail.com

    Delivery of the email was stopped!

    The message has been blocked because it contains a component
    (as a MIME part or nested within) with declared name
    or MIME type or contents type violating our access policy.

    With a little effort it is still possible to send ANY contents
    (including viruses) using one of the following methods:

    - encrypted using pgp, gpg or other encryption methods;

    - wrapped in a password-protected or scrambled container or archive
    (e.g.: zip -e, arj -g, arc g, rar -p, or other methods)

    Note that if the contents is not intended to be secret, the
    encryption key or password may be included in the same message
    for recipient's convenience.

    We are sorry for inconvenience if the contents was not malicious.

    The purpose of these restrictions is to cut the most common propagation
    methods used by viruses and other malware. These often exploit automatic
    mechanisms and security holes in certain mail readers (Microsoft mail
    readers and browsers are a common and easy target). By requiring an
    explicit and decisive action from the recipient to decode mail,
    the dangers of automatic malware propagation is largely reduced.

    Well coffeecup is finally gone, I have no idea about your email program but let's continue just a little bit for now with these two scan below all different from what we have done so far.

    http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner

    Please do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner

    Click on Kaspersky Online Scanner

    You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.

    * The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
    * Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
    * Now click on Scan Settings
    * In the scan settings make sure that the following are selected:
    o Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
    - Extended (if available otherwise Standard)
    o Scan Options:
    - Scan Archives
    - Scan Mail Bases

    * Click OK
    *Now under select a target to scan:
    o Select My Computer
    * This program will start and scan your system.
    * The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
    * Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
    o Now click on the Save as Text button:
    * Save the file to your desktop.
    * Copy and paste that information in your next post.

    Please download SilentRunners from here:
    http://www.silentrunners.org/Silent%20Runners.zip
    Unzip it to the desktop and double-click on it. If you get any kind of warning message about scripts, please choose to allow the script to run. When the scan is finished, a message will pop up and a logfile will have been created on the desktop. Please post the entire contents of this logfile for me to see.

    Thanks

    You can delete this folder bold or run CCleaner from safe mode.

    C:\Documents and Settings\Bill Rummel\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\G7NVIWD5\wbk72.tmp Infected: Trojan-Spy.HTML.Fraud.f skipped

    The other is under system restore and can be flushed when we determine you are clean.

    Nothing in silent runners.
