Re: WMP 10 Has encounted an error when streaming video.

    Hello Neal,

I deleted ARES and KAZAA LITE as you said.
    Rebooted in safe mode.
I didn't understand what "Run CCleaner useing windows tab" meant.
I assumed it meant whilst in safe mode. Whilst in safe mode, activated Windows explorer, to get to my computor,,,C,,,program files,,,CCleaner,,,then clicked on the C icon in the folder. And activated the CCleaner program..Proformed scan. rebooted.

And went to Sky news web page with plenty of streaming WMP video's........
    Heres keeping fingers crossed..
    tried one .
got the WMP has encountered an error and will have to close down message...

It will not currently steam web site WMP streaming videos.
Could it be the GSpot Codec Information Appliance software conflicting??.

Zone alarm is set to accept in all 4 catagories for WMP.

Heres a HJT log in case needed.
    Many thanks.

    Hi,

Do you know what this is and do you want to keep it?

    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/showroom.htm

    Fix this with hijackthis:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Alcmtr] ALCMTR.EXE

Other than that I don't know what to tell you, why don't you go to XP help forum on this site and see if they can come up with something since this is not related to malware. Thanks.

    hello Neal
    The R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/showroom.htm
Is just a IE home page, of a motorcaravan dealer, I don't need it all that much.

l havent a clue how to fix it with

    "Fix this with hijackthis:"

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Alcmtr] ALCMTR.EXE.

Am I to run Hijack this and then put a tick in the box in front of
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Alcmtr] ALCMTR.EXE.

Wouldn't it just leave a blank Home page?

AND also tick the box in front of
    The R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/showroom.htm.

    Concerning the Kaspersky Results:

"One is under system restore and we will get that as a last step".

Can you fix it for me please.
Or Am I to "go to XP help forum on this site and see if they can come up with something"
Concerning that Virus in the System Restore?

    Many thanks.

    Hello Neal.

Ps just run a Kaspersky, and the nasties are still there.
May be due to not knowing about the "Windows tab" as you said,
"Run CCleaner useing windows tab only. please."
I've looked it up on google, still don't know what it is.
Sounds important to the whole process.

Can you tell me what it is please,

    Also posted a hjt log
    Thanks.

Your computer is a HP right?
Do you have a Chicony keyboard?

Reason there is an entry in HJT that could be associated with Gateway computers and that keyboard. Let me know we may need to fix that entry with hijackthis. Could be a trojan.

Please download the Killbox by Option^Explicit.

Note:In the event you already have Killbox, this is a new version that I need you to download.
    • Save it to your desktop.
    • Please double-click Killbox.exe to run it.
    • Select
      • "Delete on Reboot
      • Then click on either the "All Files" button if there is more than 1 item to Delete.
    • Please copy the file path(s) below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C

      C:\temp\cs_mary.exe/Realtime.dll
      C:\temp\cs_mary.exe CreateInstall
      C:\temp\setup_ares.exe/data0037
      C:\temp\setup_ares.exe NSI
      C:\temp\WarezP2P_DLC.exe/stream/data0035
      C:\temp\WarezP2P_DLC.exe/stream

    • Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".
    • Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.
If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

Hello neal, at each and every turn.

    Found this

Adds Clipboard Viewer into your Start Menu

If you Clipboard Viewer is not on the Start menu, then you need to install it. Here is how:

    1. Right-click Start button> Properties > Classic Start Menu > Customize > Add > Browse > C: drive, expand the tree by clicking the plus signs to Windows, System32, select clipbrd (or clipbrd.exe, depending on your folder View settings

BUT going to system 32, it isnt there.
An I have no xp disc to load it up cause it was a preloaded operating system.

CAN IT BE LOADED INTO KILLBOX ONE AT A TIME??

hello neal, I have found clipboard viewer,,and Installed it.
The six virus files go into the clipboard viewer. can clearly be seen. understand how to delete contents of clipboard as well. to get the next text into it.
Tried to put them into the killbox, exactly as you say, does not show as being there.

Whether they have loaded into killbox?

unless we need to reboot to get the killbox program intergrated into the system. will try that now..

    Many thanks,

If i cant, i will try to do them 1 by 1. if that works.

Yes it can be done one at a time, you can copy/paste one at a time and follow directions for each one.

Save 20% on AVG Internet Security 2012 Suite!
    Hello Neal,

Tried doing it one by one for the 6 viruses

    C:\temp\cs_mary.exe/Realtime.dll
    C:\temp\cs_mary.exe CreateInstall
    C:\temp\setup_ares.exe/data0037
    C:\temp\setup_ares.exe NSI
    C:\temp\WarezP2P_DLC.exe/stream/data0035
    C:\temp\WarezP2P_DLC.exe/stream

And would you beleive it. we get the

"Pending file rename operations registry data has been removed by external process"

    It wont delete them..

It's a bit of a thing isnt it.
